I finally had a response from a gentleman with Ancestry. He stated that AOL users were the ones having a problem and they were trying to fix it. sbd
Hi, there! Is anyone having trouble with access to Ancestry's free month's offer? The logins don't seem to be working or is this a normal occurrence for them? I am not familiar with their search engine to know if it fails a lot or not.
Yes, I am. I have written them about it...for whatever good that might do. I was a member with membership due to expire 12/30/98. I wrote them 12/22/98 and told them I wasn't renewing. I was cut off immediately! I suggest that if everyone who is having problems writes them, we might get good results!

I sent a message to Nadine, listowner, about the bounced e-mails. Time will tell if she received it. My query was in the Digest twice; because I thought it had been done incorrectly. Hi all, I have a photograph taken sometime between 1925-1935 of 47 men (one of them my great grandfather) in front of an Oregon Stages bus (now Greyhound) at the ?factory? where they built them in Portland, Oregon. If anyone has a relative that built bus frames for Oregon Stages (or Greyhound) during that time it is possible that he is in the photograph. If you would like to see it, please let me know and I will send it e-mail. If you must, please flame me personally; don't send it to the whole list if you are bothered that this went to the Roll-Call list -- I just wanted to let as many people know about it as is possible . Happy holidays to all, Shelley Sherman [email protected]

To Cindy Bass, If this gets through this time, send me your e-mail address. Whitton is sort of a "by product", but there is a connection in there some where. Have nothing really on Whitton. Would there be a link to Arkansas? We can discuss it if you like. [email protected] "Prenjur"
List, I tried my best. A message to the listowner was answered automatically by the computer. It did not reach the listowner. ********* Sent to the Listowner at [email protected] I am pasting in a default message which keeps appearing whenever someone posts to Roll-Call. If this reaches someone handling administration for the list, perhaps removing that particular name from the subscriber list will prevent it????????? Thanks for a great list! If a mailinglist for example is called "[email protected]", then the -request address can be inferred from this to be: "[email protected]". To subscribe to a mailinglist, simply send a message with the word "subscribe" in the Subject: field to the -request address of that list. As in: To: [email protected] Subject: subscribe To unsubscribe from a mailinglist, simply send a message with the word (you guessed it :-) "unsubscribe" in the Subject: field to the -request address of that list. As in: To: [email protected] Subject: unsubscribe In the event of an address change, it would probably be the wisest to first send an unsubscribe for the old address (this can be done from the new address), and then a new subscribe for the new address (the order is important). Most (un)subscription requests are processed automatically without human intervention. Do not send multiple (un)subscription or info requests in one mail. Only one will be processed per mail. NOTE: The -request server usually does quite a good job in discriminating between (un)subscribe requests and messages intended for the maintainer. If you'd like to make sure a human reads your message, make it look like a reply (i.e. the first word in the Subject: field should be "Re:", without the quotes of course); the -request server does not react to replies. The archive server ------------------ Every submission sent to this list is archived. The size of the archive depends on the limits set by the list maintainer (it is very well possible that only, say, the last two mails sent to the list are still archived, the rest might have expired). You can look at the header of every mail coming from this list to see under what name it has been archived. The X-Mailing-List: field contains the mailaddress of the list and the file in which this submission was archived. If you want to access this archive, you have to send mails to the -request address with the word "archive" as the first word of your Subject:. To get you started try sending a mail to the -request address with the following: Subject: archive help --
