I don't know if S.S. will let you look at your grandmother's records or not but if she drew a widows pension from your grandfather, any letter from them to her would have his S.S. # on it. To be able to draw his benefits, she would have had to prove marriage and then to prove that she either had children by him or married to him for 10 years. Either way, she was eligible for his S.S. If you have any papers from S.S. to your grandmother, look for the S.S. # because it will be his and not hers. Since your mother did all the work of getting the pension, she likely has all the other also. There had to be a Marriage Certificate or a Family Bible with the marriage listed. I hope it wasn't all destroyed when your grandmother died. Martha
