Margaret, I believe the Roll surname comes from various countries. On this list are Rolls who originated in France, Germany, Switzerland and Russia, besides the Dutch Roll's. There are some Roll researchers in Australia on the list whose ancestor was a descendant of Jan Mangel, their ancestor moved to Australia after WWII. This list is for all Roll (various spellings, Rolls, Rall, Rowl, etc) researchers. My own ancestors changed their name from Roll to Rall, believe that was just due to circumstances not deliberate.
