Dear Members of the ROLL list, I finally found some more of the SHIPMAN line: Sarah Virginia SHIPMAN (03 May 1865-03 May 1957), wife of William Henry ROLL (22 Nov 1862-11 Nov 1899). These are my great grandparents. William Henry and Sarah Virginia (Shipman) ROLL are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Hillside, NJ. Sarah Virginia SHIPMAN is the fifth child of William Marquis SHIPMAN (03 Jun 1826-08 Feb 1905) and Sarah WOODS (ca.1830-05 Sep 1894). Sarah WOODS was an Irish immigrant. William and Sarah (Woods) SHIPMAN are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Hillside, NJ. William Marquis SHIPMAN is the son of Joseph Tuttle SHIPMAN (15 Nov 1790-20 Feb 1861) and Mary TOMPSON (05 Jun 1798-25 Sep 1846). Joseph and Mary (Thompson) SHIPMAN are buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Springfield, NJ. Joseph Tuttle SHIPMAN is the son of Aaron SHIPMAN (16 Jul 1760-22 Jan 1840) and Phebe TUTTLE (ca.1763-18 Apr 1839). Aaron and Phebe (Tuttle) SHIPMAN are buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Springfield, NJ. Where is Hillside, NJ? I have a 19th century map of Elizabeth, NJ, and find an Evergreen Cemetery on the ourskirts of town between N. Broad St. and Cross Ave. Is this the same cemetery? It's only a few blocks from where Sarah's husband William Henry ROLL had his trolly accident in 1899 at the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Newark Avenue. I may soon have more information. Sincerely, William Henry Roll [email protected] _________________________________________________________________ William Henry Roll Blythe, California [email protected] The Roll Family Genealogy Windmill http://members.aol.com/whroll "A thousand candles have burned themselves out; yet I read on."
