He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Elizabeth, Union Co., N.J. Sarah Virginia Shipman was the daughter of William Marquise (Mark) Shipman and Sarah Woods. He fought in the Civil War and named his daughter after the land where he had fought and the countryside which he had learned to love.
