    3. Hi Barbara, I lost you again for awhile. Glad you joined the group. I think the pronunciation was the main cause for name changing about that time. When I first met Lynn, she had gone to school in Roll, Indiana (pronounced Rall) as a young girl. She commented several times to mispronounce her name was fighting words. Lynn's ancestor Matthias Roll is the person the town is named for. We use the Roll pronunciation. The family lived around Marion, Indiana since the mid 1900's. Anywhere I went, within about 100 mile radius, they pronounced my name Rall. Some seemed to be very strict with the pronunciation and some just let it go.
