Nancy, Just my luck, now that I live in upstate New York, I could've used some land (so I could pay more of these exorbitant taxes). My family never referred to this line as anything but "Rall", but as you know, the Miami Valley Genealogical Index uses Roll and Rall inter-changeably - I've found Moses listed both ways. Interestingly, I did find Roll tombstones in the New Carlisle cemetery - I'll search for the names if anyone is interested. It's surprising that both spellings co-existed in the same area at the same time - do you suppose there was some sort of family fissure, perhaps over religious choices, etc. ? Ed
