Hi I am Frank eldest son of Francis Sherman. In reply to yours Dad served with the US Army Medical Corps and was wounded in the eye during his service in China???? and was on his way home for discharge via Australia when he decided that this was it so he settled here around 1924. Mum was born in Kilsyth Scotland on 4 October 1905 and emigrated to Australia in 1925.she was a milliner. Dad was a salesman, mostly real estate, but would try anything. During the Depression he took up goldmining but was not very successful. This was around Bathurst,Mudgee Hill End.NSW. We settled in Windeyer NSW and he built and operated a bakery until 1938 when he recieved some deferred pay from the Veterans Affairs. he then decided to come to sydney and opened a series of grocery stores in and around Sydney Suburbs.
