David, welcome to the Roll surname list. There is another subscriber on our list whose Roll family came from Alsace,France. Different town though. (At least I think he is still on the list.) If you have the NY church record mentioning Maria Rosa, copy it and post to the list. Bill is wonderful with languages and can probably translate the Latin.
