    3. Jan, did you get the information that I sent? The first time I sent them, I accidentally put something wrong in your address so they were returned to me. I re-sent them and just wondered if you got them. In answer to your question, I have nothing other than what you have on George Roll and Sarah Gary. That's been my problem in trying to link them for certain. I just need to make a journey to Cincinnati to clear things up. I'll ask my husband's cousin if she might have anything in her mother's things that were from George's family. It's like pulling teeth to get anything out of some of the family members. My husband's mom was born after George S. and Estelle were already deceased so she knows very little about even them. I was lucky that I got the copies of the obituaries before my husband's aunt died. I'll let you know if I can find anything. Thanks. Emma

    3. When I said Elizabeth Strichhauser was a young bride, I was looking at a page that I had not updated. According to "The Palatine Families of NY 1710" by Henry A. Jones Jr. V. II pp 1014-1015, Elizabeth was born 5 Apr 1704 in Bad Kreuznach,Germany. Nancy Lohbrunner lohbrunner@prodigy.net

    3. My records show that Elizabeth Strichhauser was born in 1699, so that would make her about 29 at marriage, and Jan Mangels Roll (my records show date of birth as 1700 to 1708) would make him between 20 and 28 years old, which are all reasonable. I would think that the fact that John and Elizabeth were witnesses to a baptism at the Reformed Church on Staten Island would have made a marraige record easy to find. Maybe they were married in New York City, as Balthasar seemed to have settled there. I never heard the rationale behind Elizabeth's name possibly being Sickles, so have no information to make me lean toward that. If anyone knows where the Sickles theory came from, I would love to have that information. ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. 3. I only know John Mangels Roll was buried at the Presbyterian Church in Long Hill, Chatham, NJ. (Does anyone have a different one?) For their children, I have: John b 17 Oct 1733 Isaac b ca 1735 Mary "Molly" b ca 1737 Abrham b 29 Aug 1739 Catherine (Catron) b ca 1741 Jane (Jean) b 12 Sep 1743 (All agree??) IF Elizabeth was Strichhauser and she and John were married around the time of baptism when they were witnesses, 1728, Elizabeth Strichhauser would have been a very young bride. Notice there is no son named after John's father, Pieter, nor a son named after Balthasar Strichhauser or Robert Sickles. There is a daughter, Jane who could be named after paternal grandmother, Jannetje DuChesne AND daughter Catherine (Catron) could be named after Catharina Krobel Strichhauser. Off hand I can't remember the name of Robert Sickles wife, so can't compare that. I will have to go through my notes. I did find a marriage for a Elizabeth Sickles who married a DeGroot (?). 3. I would love to find a citation for the marriage of John Mangels Roll --- to anyone! I don't think anyone has ever found one or at least it has never been posted on the list. I for one would love to have the 'can of worms' opened in this matter. None of the children of John Mangels Roll were named after any ot the Sickles family, but then none of them were named for the father of Elizabeth Strickhauser. (Could be the grandson.) Comments anyone? Nancy Lohbrunner lohbrunner@prodigy.net

    2. Jan Holland
    3. Hi all-- I've been on the list for quite some time but have never seen anyone comment on the John Mangels Roll SR.(b 1708) marriage. Maybe this has been hashed out and I missed it but would like to know if anyone has ever documented either marriage. Some have it as Elizabeth Sickles 1712-1782 (m. 1725) with ch: John, Catherine (Catron), Isaac, Abraham, Molly (Mary), and Jane (Jean) and others show Elizabeth Strickhauser 1784- ? (m. 1732) children ?????. Hope I haven't opened a can of worms but I would really like to know how everyone is handling this. Jan

My name is Emma Dickens and I live in Bedford, Texas between Dallas : and Fort Worth. My husband's mother was a RALL and I am trying to : figure out if George Stockton Rall my husband's great grandfather is : connected to the Jan Mangalese family for certain. He is buried here in : Fort Worth and was born in Ohio in 1936. He was married to Malvina : Estelle Cary who was also from Hamilton County, Ohio. I have alot of : info on the Cary's and I have quite a bit of information on G. S. Rall, : but I'm having trouble connecting whether he is definitely the son of : George Roll and Sarah Gary. It seems like everything fits, but I'm not : certain. I would love to make a trip to Cincinnati and hopefully will : be able to do so in the near future. I do know that quite a few of the : Roll's lived in the Mill Creek Township (Hamilton County) and so did the : Cary's. My husband's aunt told me that her grandmother told her that : she and George used to play together as their families had neighboring : farms. Anyway, if you have any information that would be helpful I : would really appreciate it. Thanks. Emma :
