Audrey Silas was named in his father's will which was probated Oct 1831. (Source: Butler Co., OH Old Will Record Bk. 2, 1833-1843, p. 519) Silas was a physician. In the estate packet of John A. HANCOCK of Reily Twp., Butler Co., OH was found, "Silas ROLL for medical attendance during last illness. $3.00 on 11 May 1850." John A. HANCOCK is an ancestral gf/o David E. HANCOCK, Sr., husband of Audrey (SHIELDS) HANCOCK. Audrey is descendant of Ross DUNHAM & Sarah ROLL. On 2 Dec 1854, Silas ROLL received "For visits & medical advice $2.50" from the estate of Jonas JONES, husband of Nancy Ann (HANCOCK) JONES, who was sister of the above John A. HANCOCK. John A. HANCOCK & Nancy Ann (HANCOCK) JONES were children of (Capt.) John HANCOCK & Nancy Ann (GRAVES) HANCOCK. (Source: 1997, Records of Butler Co., OH as seen by Dave & Audrey HANCOCK) Silas ROLL was postmaster 19 Nov 1856 at what was Stillwell (became McGonigle's Station in 1859), Hanover Twp., Butler Co., OH. On Nov 23, 1999, Jan Holland sent some data on the Swaim and Sayre branches from the Dutch Rolls. She wrote that Jane SWAIM dau of MR. SWAIM married Isaac SAYRE. In checking my notes today, I found that Jane Swaim was the daughter of Matthias Swaim and Catherine Mangels ROLL. So there are two (if not more) ROLL connections with these families. The following John Roll has to be part of the NY/NJ Dutch Roll family. Does anyone have the surname of the 3rd wife of John Roll (1733 NJ - 1808 OH), son of John And Elizabeth? He married 1st Rachel VanWinkle who died NJ 1768; married 2nd Edith Wick about 1769 (first child born Aug 1770), she died NJ 1775. From his will in 1808 his present wife "Lydia" was named. I would think that this John Roll would have remarried within a year or two after the death of (m2) Edith Wick as she died about the same time as her third child was born.
