Nancy Lohbrunner lohbrunner@prodigy.net >> Cousin Nancy, The information I have so far is that Abraham ROLL died in Summit, Union County NJ on October 20, 1813 and is buried in the cemetery of the Long Hill Chapel. I have not been able to locate that cemetery yet. There is a Long Hill Chapel in Summit, but it is a new congregation and they have no knowledge of a Long Hill Chapel in 1813 or of a cemetery connected with their church. Abraham's first wife, Mary BROOKS died in 1783 and he remarried to Catherine VREELAND. I have been able to locate her grave in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Elizabeth, NJ. She died August 9, 1814 and is buried next to her son by Abraham. Their son is Stephen ROLL (RAWLE) who was born January 15, 1794 and died May 27, 1813. I found Elizabeth (VREELAND) ROLL and Stephen ROLL in a book entitled "Inscriptions on Tombstones and Monuments in the burying Grounds of the First Presbyterian Church and St. Johns Church at Elizabeth, New Jersey 1664-1892". Originally published in 1892, the book was reprinted in 1997. Dave from Long Island

I would love to have photos of the cemetery stones sometime or a place on the web to make copies from. Yes, Dave, Elizabeth "Betsey" (MILLS) ROLL's, wife of Jacob, is buried right in the first row of gravesites near the wrought iron fencing at the very front of the graveyard facing the street...farthest from the back of the church. It is a tall red sandstone gravestone and there are some MILLS buried around there. Also, have some pictures taken at the Presbyterian Churchyard in Westfield...lost...in that camera. Guess I'll have to get a new camera and go back...good thing my son lives in Waldwick, Bergen Co., NJ which isn't too far away. We were there last year the day after the hurricane hit the area. Scotch Plains Baptist Church was recovering from their basement area flooding. Hello, By husband Bud Cain descends from Abrahams' daughter Elizabeth Roll who married Isaac SAYRE.I think that some are buried in Springield Presbyterian Cemetery.I'll check when I get up there next time. Mary(Polly) Sayre,b.1814;d/o Brooks Sayre and Polly Conklin married Joseph Cain in the Springfield Presbyterian Church in 1832. Joseph Cain,b.1791;s/o Joseph and Margaret Perrine m.1790. As per the Baltus Roll murder,Joseph Cain was on of the persons that Mrs. Roll went to for help.As far as I can piece it together Joseph Cain was staying with Brooks Sayre the brother of his future wife, Polly Sayre;as this was before they married in 1832. I'll be happy to help with pictures from the Presbyterian Cemetery Springfield next time I go.Just email me your names etc. Two of the children of Joseph and Mary Sayre Cain are buried there. George Washington Cain,b.1835-1901 and his wife Harriet Parker Hoffman 1838-1927. They were my husbands g-grandparents.William Ross Cain,b.1849 and 2 of his wives are also there in the next grave. I'll be happy to share the information on my line and would love anything anyone else may know.
