    3. Will try to get back to you on Jacob early next week. I have always had Aaron as a son. Audrey, I think it was Rita Kuhbander who wanted more proof. Didn't know about the other three children. Martha, can you remember where you found them? Have either of you ever seen a Daniel as Jacob's son? ____ Nancy Lohbrunner [email protected]

    3. Hello, again, I basically addressing this & my other e-mail to Martha & Nancy since we three are descended from Jacob & Elizabeth "Betsey" (MILLS) ROLL/RALL, but thought I'd address this to the whole ROLL-L in case there are other interested parties. Martha states that Jacob was a chairmaker in Cincinnati, OH. Does anyone know how long they were in Cincinnati & the resource for his being a chairmaker? Audrey

    2. David Hancock
    3. Hello, All, I am reviewing Martha's list of the children of Jacob ROLL/RALL & wife #1 Elizabeth "Betsey" MILLS. I note that Martha mentions Abigail, Nancy, & Betsey as children, bringing to 11 the number of children. Does anyone have have birthdates, etc. on these children. I only had 8 known children. Is everyone now in agreement that Aaron is also their son, since he was mentioned along with his mother in the will of his gm, Amy MILLS. I know some time ago there was debate over this. I think the will validates the fact that he was a child of Jacob & #1 Betsey's. Also, Martha says that Jacob ROLL/RALL married at New Providence, NJ to#2 Nancy PICKET/PECKET from New Brunswick, NJ. Is there a source for this marriage? I had his wife's name as "Ann." I know that the nickname or popular name for Nancy was Ann in those days, so are we talking about the same person? Martha names the children of Jacob & #2 Nancy as Hannah, John, & Jane. Does anyone have birthdates or additional information on these children? Hoping you all had your Thanksgiving fill, and if you are like us here in Portage, MI, you are eating leftovers. I'm not cooking today at all. Audrey

    1. Roll - my connection
    2. I have a sideways connection to the Roll family. My gggrandfather, John Kidd (1813-1875) had a daughter Lucinda Kidd (1834-1902) who married Jonathan Smith ROLL (1828-1904) 4 Sep 1851 in Elizabeth, Union, New Jersey. He was the son of Wesley Roll (1801-1855) and Anne Smith. Check out Wesley and Anne's stone markers on Bill Roll's windmill web site: http://members.aol.com/whroll. Lucinda and Jonathan had 5 children: John Joseph ROLL, born 4 Apr 1852, died 4 Sep 1853. Joseph Hedges ROLL, born 21 Apr 1854. Ann Lucinda ROLL, born 23 Sep 1860. William Henry ROLL, born 22 Nov 1862, died 28 Oct 1898. Fred Luther ROLL, born 20 Mar 1866, died 30 Aug 1866. You'll find more about this family on my web pages http://members.aol.com/RLCww. I have a few Roll members on my Kidd source pages. (btw, I am updating and redesigning my web pages soon.) ---Robin Chalmers in NH

    1. Beginning the Roll line
    2. Hi, everyone! My husband, Ronald L. Duncan, and myself (Dot) have just joined the Roll mailing list. As this is a distaff side, we are just beginning our research. We are impressed by the activity and enthusiasm of all the participants and hope that we will be able to contribute something in the very near future. So far, we have: Frieda Malissa Roll, b 17 Jun 1903 in Peck, Sumner Co, KS m. Berna O. SNIDER, b. 18 Dec 1902 in Fairgrove, Greene Co. We don't have an exact wedding date yet. The Sniders had ten children. Parents of Frieda are RALPH ROLL, b. abt 1860 in MO,and JESSIE J. (SURNAME UNKNOWN), B. ABT 1881 IN kANSAS. Any info you would be willing to share to help us in our quest to link to to your family lines would certainly be appreciated. Thanks for allowing us to join your group. 1. My visit to Ft. Wayne Library
    2. David Hancock
    3. Hello, All, I didn't find much. I sent a copy of the VAN WOGGELUM family information to Martha. I haven't had much time to delve into it yet to see what was there. Martha wanted me to check out something for her, so I copied & mailed it to her. Have a copy around here somewhere, but have been so busy with company coming & going. It is sitting in a pile somewhere with all your e-mails that I made hard copies of. Also, visited a university library here in Kalamazoo & have copied pages from a Clute book that shows the pews of a Dutch church which were occupied by the ROLLs & VAN WOGGELUMs. Does anyone have this? Possibly it could be scanned into a web site if it isn't copyright protected. Also, it gave an accounting of the slaves owned by the ROLL family. Anyone seen this book? Nancy, it was the same book from which I gleaned information of your LATOURETTE family. Well, I'll be busy here until Sunday. Children & grandchildren will be arriving & guess what Grandmother will be doing...cooking & cooking. So...I won't have much time on the Internet. Have a Happy Turkey Day. Will get back to you soon. 3. Hi Kathy, You are closer related to Lynn's line of the family. I'll send you her address and phone number. Her line: John & Elizabeth (Sickles) (?) Roll John & 1st wife, Rachel (Van Winkle) Roll Matthias & Mary (Rutan) Roll Matthias & 2nd wife, Lucy (Williams) Roll Oscar Boone & Josephine (Cochran) Roll Marion William & Bertha Olive (Farr) Roll Thelma Lynn Roll m. Melvin C. "Red" Kennedy. The 2 Matthias Roll's are buried at Roll, Indiana. I have this notation at the bottom of Matthias & Mary (Rutan) Roll, page. Matthias Roll settled the little town of Roll, Indiana in Blackford Co., on SR. 18. Since there were a few oil wells in the area of Dundee, the little town was rather prosperous. Matthias rode his horse to the near-by county seat, Hartford City, to pick up the mail and deliver it to the residents of the small town. When the mail became too heavy for one horse and rider, the government decided it was time to give Dundee a post office of it's own. However, there was already a Dundee in Indiana, so the name of the town was changed to ROLL in honor of Matthias. On May 21, 1859, Matthias deeded land for the Roll School House (District # 2), Washington, Twp. He also deeded land to William S. Roll on September 30, 1856. Matthias and two other people gave land for the Church and Cemetery where he, Lucy and some of their children are buried. You might want to get in touch with Lynn. It looks like your parents and Lynn are 3rd cousins. Her address is: Mrs. T. Lynn (Roll) Kennedy 1835 Dean Street Huntington, Indiana - 46750 Phone (219) 356-6650 If you call her, Kathy, tell her that I gave you the phone number and address and give her my best. I've been thinking about her a lot lately and intented to call last weekend and I will try to this weekend. She will be thrilled if you write or call her. Have a good day, Martha
