Martha mentions newspaper articles from the Cincinnati Times Star of Mar 16, 1905, "The Old Grave Yard" and from the Cincinnati Post for Aug 1, 1925, "Remembered." Does anyone have copies of these? Audrey
Does anyone happen to know if Martha FORCE, wife of John ROLL (b 1757), was also referred to as Patty FORCE? Audrey
From the map, "The Olde Towne 1740-1800," these ROLLs are posted: Johanes ROLL near Westfield Boundary (north of Springfield Rd. & north of town) Abraham ROLL (south of Springfield Rd., but still north of town) For those of us with MILLS connection: Wm. MILLS (? #1 or #2) on Springfield Rd. (mid-part & north of town) For those of us with CORY connection: Benj. CORY Sr. on west part of Springfield Rd. & north of town Jonathan CORY east of Benj. on Springfield Rd. & north of town Does this help to pinpoint anyone? Hello everyone: The Rootsweb archives is now up and running. Try it at http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl Good luck. I have been having computer problems, so have only been checking my mail the past couple of weeks. Thought it was fixed, but no such luck. Nancy
I thought I'd pass along this email from www.ancestry.com, who offers a daily email message. Some of it is commercial, but there are good tidbits in it. I know, you probably have enough email already....and if you do, I apologize! ---Robin -------------------------- Finding Ancestors Through Voter Registration Cards Voter registration cards are available for the 19th and 20th centuries in many courthouses. The registrant had to give his birth date and the place he was born. The election commissioners wanted to be sure he was 21 and born in this country. Or if he was not born in this country, when he was naturalized. The immigrant had to give the date and location of that event, and the name of the court that authorized his citizenship. The card will also show his signature. Reocrds are filed alphabetically or by wards so have the home address available if possible when you cal the appropriate courthouse. A phone call could save time and expense in finding this information. Don't expect to find a widowed great-grandmother this way! Women could not vote until 1920. ******** From the Rock Co. WI Gen. Thanks Kathy, I must have been looking at Rachel's year of death instead of Isaac Roll. The date should have been ISAAC b. 09/08/1766 d. 03/11/1787. He was the 5th child of John & Rachel (Van Winkle) Roll, p. 3. Sorry to all of you who have to make corrections on my pages already. Thanks again, Kathy. Martha
Thank You I didn't have any differences with this page but it did give much missing info on Wickham Roll. I sent these four pages of the N.J. pages to you to help with your questions on Wick Roll. I think this P. 58 is the one you are looking for and he is likely, the one who is mentioned in all your inquiries. Since he was a J.P. in Hamilton Co., Ohio, and also a Nephew of Edward & Phebe (Lauder) Roll. John & Martha (Force) Roll had a son: Jacob Wick Roll, married: Jane McClure. All their children were born in Cincinnati, Ohio. They moved to Dearborn Co., Indiana in 1848, just South of Logan, Indiana. The 7th child of Jacob Wick & Jane (McClure) Roll was: Richard Eberle Roll. After his 2nd marriage, he moved in 1889 to Wertein, Kiowa Co., Kansas. If I have a page # to the left of the child's name, I have additional information on that child and his/her family. If anyone can add to these pages or add more pages from the children I don't have information on, I will appreciate it. Your question on Charlotte L Giltner: John Roll & Elizabeth Sickles Jane Roll & Thomas Cory Elnathan Cory & Hannah Jennings Eliza Cory & John Pierson Miller Samuel Willis Miller & Charlotte Helena Stokes Helena Ethelyn Miller & Donald Hanson Mitchell Charlotte Lynn Mitchell & Justin Lewis Giltner Well, wouldn't you know, another Boo Boo. I don't know why I used Roll as a maiden name for Charlotte. She is descended from Michael's line of the Roll Family. Betty, these 4 pages are the N.J. Line. Martha
I don't know if Littell is wrong in this case, but many times I have heard from other researchers that Littell is incorrect in certain cases. See pg 349, "John ROLL, (called in German Johonis MONGLE.) came from Germany and settled between Springfield and Westfield...." Nancy
Hi Martha and other interested parties: Yes, this list is for all interested parties, however the surname is spelled. We could have a closed list, but with an open list, hopefully we will be able to attract other Roll/Rall etc researchers. Nancy

It took until 8 years after his death before it was probated? John, Matthias, Abraham were from the 1st marriage, but not mentioned were Abigail nor Isaac. Who is Rachel ROLL? Is she a daughter by Rachel VanWinkle? Edward was s/o Edith, but Wick & Jacob aren't mentioned. Lydia, of course, would be his present wife with no children.
