    3. Have been trying to connect this family to the Roll data I have. Does anyone know whether John Roll & Mary Nevis had children other than Michael Roll? Did Michael Roll and Christina Vought have children other than John Roll? Did John Roll & SusannahSwank have children other than William B Roll? Appreciate any help. Hansel

    3. I can think of nothing else that I would rather be doing on Saturday Night than working on Genealogy. The boys are gone to a friend's house to play games on their computer so for a change, I get it. John Roll & Elizabeth Sickles Abraham Roll & 1st wife, Mary Brooks Jacob Roll & Elizabeth Mills Joseph Roll & Nancy Barnet William Alexander Roll & Lucy Ann Elizabeth Ray Cummings James Hudson Roll & 2nd wife, Louisa May Totten William Riley Roll & Golda Mae Woolums Charles Hershell Roll & 2nd wife, Martha Jeanette Rowell By the way, I don't think I wrote to anyone but Betty that Charles married again on October 4, 1997 to his first wife, Frances Louise King. Hansel is a 2nd cousin to my sons, Charles William Roll & James Matthew Roll. He is a dear friend and what is better than being related, is to have a relative that is also a friend. I've never met him but I have met his mother and she is a sweet person. Hansel has done more than I asked him to do by donating this work and making it available to anyone who wants it. What I wonder is how he could do this for the price he asks. Mail almost cost that much. I know, I have mailed several hundred pages and paper weighs a lot. I've never charged but several people have sent money to cover the postage. Martha

    3. Yes I have your page 4, but in my pages I also have Mary baptized 6-14-1767. I have Catherine born on 6-14-1777, same date just 10 years difference. If you would please send me Hansel's offer again, because I can't seem to find it now. I just went back to my original data that I started with and found that it is a copy of a letter that my great great aunt Hazel Roll Conyers received from Albany County Records. They listed everyone using Roman numerals. If you would like me to send this to you please let me know. Kathy [email protected]

    2. Martha Roll
    3. Hi Kathy, Did you get my page 4? This was Isaac Roll & Sarah Cauldwell. If you didn't, I can send it again. Compare it with your research and if there are any difference, let me know. I have child # 2, Mary & child # 3, Catherine Baptised on the same day suggesting that they might have been twins, but Mary died young. I also have a Julia A. Woodruff b. 1847 d. 1946. She is listed under Catherine Roll & Abner Woodruff but it's not possible that she was their child because Catherine died 1838. I can't find her as a granddaughter either but I don't have the information on every child. All this will be in Hansel's offer to all of you. I encourage you to get that. He has made a very generous offer to everyone and I will try to fill in what is missing from his pages too. Let me know about P. 4. Martha

    1. [ROLL-L] Matilda (Roden) Roll Sears - Attn: Donna
    2. Martha Roll
    3. Hi Donna, Thank you for adding that to my research. Doesn't it absolutely amaze you how fast these people got around in the early and mid 1800's knowing that their only transportation was by covered wagon or riverboat and maybe in some directions, by train. I didn't have the first 2 children of William B. Roll & Matilda Roden. The first two children were born in Indiana, the 3rd in Kentucky, so they must have gone back to Kentucky to visit with William's family before moving west. Hardin Co., Ky. is just across the Ohio River from Harrison Co., Indiana. I spent hours in the Court House in Harrison Co., Indiana. This is where I found the Will of John Roll. The Will left all his possessions to William unless his daughter Christina was a widow at the time of his death. If she was, she would receive half. Their brother, Stephen Thomas Roll married with the consent of his father, John Roll. Christina married with the consent of her brother Stephen Thomas Roll. No other children were mentioned in the Will. If they went back to Kentucky to visit and a child was born there, who did they go to visit? I am told that there was a ferry crossing the Ohio River just below Harrison Co., Ind. into Ky. Later a bridge was built, I believe. Anyway, in 1832, Michael Roll & Christina Vought moved from Hardin Co., Ky. to Muhlenberg Co., Ky. Michael Roll & Christina Vought came through Virginia across the Cumberland Gap via the Wilderness Road into Hardin Co., Ky. Do you have the story of The Wilderness Road? I have it somewhere. It was a treacherous trail with Indian attacks and few pioneers made it through but by Michael Roll being an Indian Scout in the Packhorse Service, he was more capable of getting his family through. I did not have the information that Matilda (Roden) Roll married John Sears. She was listed in the 1870 Census with the 3 children. It looks like this Laura A. Roll, granddaughter of John Sears married Thomas Roll. However, I won't record it until I'm a little more sure of the fact. Or, what do you have? Thank you for adding more to my research. Betty has a lot of the Penn. Family and she said she didn't mind sending it to people if you would like a copy. If you want to wait a couple more weeks, I hope to have most of it into Family Tree Maker and I will send it to Betty, If I can do a Gedcom File. It looks like it will add a couple of hundred pages more to her files. Also, Hansel has offered everyone a copy of the N.J. pages. It is well worth the money to send to get a copy of that. The two families do come together. Here I have rambled on again. Sorry. Martha

    3. Penn. Family. John Roll & Mary Nevis Michael Roll & Christina Vought (spelled several ways) John Roll & Susannah Swank William B. Roll & Matilda Roden This should be in the information that Betty has. I am just now adding what is missing from those records. When I'm finished, I will send this to Betty. Sorry to put all this work off on Betty & Hansel. I will probably still work on genealogy but it has grown too much. I have worked on it so much that when I see a maiden name, I can tell which family it belongs too. Since there are several researchers to join the group, should we post our lines again? I don't remember if I've posted since we've archived. Martha

    2. NANCY N LOHBRUNNER
    3. Hello Pamela: Welcome to the Roll/Rall list. Most of the people on this list are from a Roll line, some of us (right, Ed) have ancestors that used RALL. If you descend from Abraham Roll and Mary Brooks, is your line from Ohio? We anxiously wait your next posting with more generations. My line is as follows: My line is: Jan Mangelse/Tryntje Pieters Pieter Janse Roll/Jannetje DuChesne John Mangels Roll/Elizabeth Abraham Roll/Mary Brooks Jacob Roll/Elizabeth Mills Mary Rall/James Latourette and Moses Rall/Elizabeth Dew Wyatt Mary Jane Latourette/Isaac Brooks Rall 1st cousins Alice Catherine Rall/George Henning Daisy Henning/Hugh O'Neil Carrie O'Neil/John Bowman Nancy Bowman/Armin Lohbrunner If you notice we don't quite agree. That makes genealogy interesting and keeps us on our toes. Maybe some of the others will post their lines again for you. Once the Rootsweb archives get back on line, you can go through some of our old postings. I will let everyone know when the archives are up. Nancy
