June 14-1706 the daughter of John Jr. and Bathsheba(Rogers) Smith. However an entry in Joshua Hempsteads Diary dated Wed. Sept. 18th 1751, " Zachariah Whipples wife died age above 40 and an illegitimate child of." Has anyone persued this curve ball? Did Josh know but wouldn't reveal or had he forgotton her parentage ending the entry unanswered?

John Lexington ROGERS, b. Sep 1838 in Maine(?), listed his father (on his Civil War records) as Alphoonse, born Howard, Massachusetts in 1806 and called him a "clergyman." Alphonse was married to Hulda HATCH (whose line is well documented. They had eight children, all born in Aroostook County, Maine. But ... I cannot find anything on Alphonse's parents. anyone? jim roaix
