I have a James A. (Ancil) Rogers in that corner of MO also. He was born about 1830 in Sullivan County, TN - the son of Prudence Rogers and Daniel Stephens. In 1906, he applied on the Guion-Miller Rolls for membership in the Cherokee nation claiming his grandfather Ansel was 100% Cherokee. He was denied as no member of the family were on prior rolls nor did they ever live in Indian Territories. James A. married Elizabeth. He names his children in the Miller roll application - and the family can be found 1870 (Greene Co); 1880 (Christian) and beyond that Stone. Their children were: 1) Nancy Margaret b. 1865; Thomas Franklin Rogers b 1968 (I wonder if this is the same Thomas who can be later found in Greene Co., married to Mary Adella Shook??; 3) Samuel Rogers b. 1869; 4) William Henry Rogers b. 1875; Alice Rogers b. 1878 married Charles Henry -- one of her daughters Anna married a man named Eutsler; Martha E. Rogers (b. 1882 married John Curtis). Does anyone know this family? Gary
