Pat Holloway Pat: George is certainly a family name, and I show a ton of them in my family's name index, though I do not find Jane Courtney, and this probably relates to this George being in a collateral family line. The fact that there is only one t on the end of Pettitt is a good indicator of this. Generally, I have found that the Pettits who are on the Cherokee rolls are cousins, through the marriage of Pettitt and a Hilderbrand. The Hilderbrands were wealthy Cherokees, and this particular cousin stayed behind during the removal, allowing his wife and kids to be removed in 1838. He later committed suicide. So, guess the bottom line is that there is probably a connections, but not enough infrrmation currently to know for certain. Fawn
