A Lynne Brown ("lynnieb" at elink.net) posted the following almost a decade (!) ago: >Subject: William Maine Rogers >Date: Thu, 21 May 1998 11:10:16 -0400 > >Recently someone posted a query about William Maine Rogers. I lost it. >Now I find him in my list as son of Samuel Lufkin Rogers b. 1832 in >Freeport, ME who later moved to SC and IL. Any leads to either of these >would be greatly appreciated. link: <http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/rogers/1998-05/0895763416> William Maine Rogers is my great-grandfather. His father Samuel L. can be found in the 1880 census for Rantoul, IL (and possibly 1870). Based on the above post I went through the Rogers (and Lufkins) of Freeport, ME from 1790-1860. A "Saml Rogers" is found there in 1850. For the benefit of any Rogers or Lufkin families from Freeport, I have put together an analysis of those families insofar as I can determine from the census accounts. It can be found here: <http://genealogy.friarwire.net/> It is set up as a PDF (about 500k) on tabloid size paper (but you can "fit to printable area" and get a decent rendering on letter size paper). Please see the accompanying Read Me for explanation of how to read it. The above e-mail address is dead, but if Ms. Brown is still out there, do get in touch with me. Sincerely, fr. C.
