Obtain your father's birth record. It will give his parent's names, ages, and usually their place of birth. Death, funeral home, marriage records, and obituaries are all sources to locate the names and locations of parents, "preceded in death by...",spouses and marriage dates, burial location (was grandmother buried near her deceased husband?) and other useful clues.
