Hi Dan, Thanks for the new email address. This summer/August/ I was in Highlands, Macon Co, NC and had the pleasure of marking our David Rogers' cabin, with a Daughters of 1812 marker. Since I am a Past State President of Oregon, I had the pleasure of being able to do it. I thought someone from North Carolina was going to do it but the chairman of Historical Markers and so on live several hours drive from there so I was happy to be able to do it. There were many of his descendants there. David built the cabin in 1820 when he was out of the war and they moved from Tenn to Highlands, Macon county, NC. The movie [1987 version] Firefox was filmed at the cabin, with John Denver, Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn. Even though in the movie they talk about being in Rabun Co, GA, it was actually shot right there using our David's cabin. It's a thrill to see it in the movie. For a very long time I have been working with this new knee; it isn't exactly like I thought things were going to be, but I am okay and things could be much worse, so will deal with this.
