    2. Carol Rogers
    3. As I press on reading these old newspaper articles for Newport, R.I., I just happened to fall on some for Newport, Pennsylvania, which I wasn't aware of that town - the newspaper called "The Newport Herald" ... for 1-3-1788 .... relayed story of Dec 2 [1787] where William Rogers, master/captain of the ship, arrived at Charleston,S.C., from Bath, N.C. - apparently joining a few others in masterminding the murder of a Mr. Abraham Nathan. There were two subsequent articles in "The Newport Herald" on 7-3-1788 and in "The Newport Mercury" dated 6-30-1788 that indicated he left two aging parents, a wife, and five young children. He was born in New London and listed his birth as Aug 25, 1748, in the history of his life that he spent time writing while in jail awaiting his execution. The two final articles were rather pathetic to read as he definitely showed remorse for his actions.
