Interesting!!! Seems much of our history is built on fables rather than facts....i.e G Washington "The Father of Our Country".....tis a fact that old George was selected as the Commanding General based on his insisting on no salary but on expenses while other candidates asked for a salary....After almost a year the Congress insisted that GW take a salary as his "expenses" were so great and so padded that he was about to bankrupt the Congress......sod familiar???? I have a "Salem Gazette" at home dated in 1768 wherein is a "Proclamation of Thanksgiving" by the Royal Governor of Ma...Honorable Governor Bernard.....So it is an old holiday even if a debunked one from the 1600's......
