It may be just a coincidence but my g-grandfather never married my g-grandmother. So my grandfather was also illegitimate. They lived in and around Benton, Franklin County, southern IL. My g-grandfather was William Randolph Rogers b.1872 and he did get around, I think he was "with" several women. If there is a connection here Will Randolph Rogers would have been about 63 years old when your grandfather was born. That's old but not too old to sire another offspring. W. R.
