His oldest son, Emory, was already in Texas in 1839 with his wife Nancy Minter. James' bunch stayed in ARK. for a while acct possible Indian trouble then they came into Texas in 1847. They came into Anderson County and farmed a while then moved into Cherokee Cty. Much of this family shows up in Erath Cty in 1860. There was work in the coal mines then.
