Please, someone must have a clue as to the parents of Joseph M Rogers 1805, and Thomas H Rogers b1802/3--- from Saratoga? LYons Wayne Co, NY, Phelps, Ontario, Co NY. Ann Arbor, Mich, Imlay, Lapeer, Mich JOSEPH M. ROGERS, according to US census,, was born in New York in 1805. He was my g+grandfather. His brother, Thomas H, was born (according to a biography of his son, Luscious) In 1802/3 in Saratoga Springs, New York. Joseph and Thomas moved to Wayne Co.- Ontario Co area New York by 1820. Joseph was married three times -- Sally, Lucy and Julia Sheffield. Joseph and JUlia were married in Lyons, Wayne Co in 1836. Julia was my grandmother. She was the daughter of Christopher Sheffield and Mary Murphy of Saratoga, Co, NY. Joseph bought and sold property in Wayne Co. and Ontario Co. NY. He was a miller and had Three mills in the (Geddesburg ) Ann Arbor, Michigan during the mid to late 1800's, Joseph was in Ann Arbor (Geddesburg, Mich) by 1840. Children of Joseph and Julia Sheffield:Harriet, b. 1842, Theodore b 1844 (my grandfather), Helen b 1846, Clara b1858, Georgiana b 1852, Miles, b 1854 Mark b, 1857 Thomas was a carpenter who specialized in farm equipment - like grain cradles. He lived in Ann Arbor then Imway, Lapeer, Michigan. He married Louisa Tuley of Phelps, Ontario C. Ny In an 1880 census I found Joseph in Placerville, California where he assisted his son William with one of the early grist mills in the area. William bought the flour/grist mill in Los Gatos, CA. Joseph leased a flour mill in NIles, California - now Fremont, California William was a child of Joseph's first or second marriage in Wayne Co NY I do not know where Joseph died, but possibly in Placerville, Fremont Los Gatos - Santa Clara Co. California. He was in his seventies when living in t his area. These brothers could be associated with the Nathan, Lemuel line from Conn.????? They could be associated with the Benjamin Rogers family in Saratoga Joseph's first son was named William - could be Joseph's father was William. Joseph's son, Theodore (my grandfather) was in Burdell Osceola, Michigan in the 1900 census. Living with him was a Frank Rogers who is listed as divorced and a cousin. Frank's father was Lemuel. Wouldn't Lemuel's father be a brother of Joseph's father????? possibility of Nathan??????? Moses Rogers bought land from Julia Sheffield Rogers in Ann Arbor Michigan Some how I feel the older Rogers were brother, cousins - whatever, and just stayed connected. Rogers from the Newport, RI area moved to the Ann Arbor area. They arrived 15 years after the Mayflower. Clyde Downing is petty expert on that line and you might check out Rootsweb to see what he has sent in the past! And see is you can tie yourself to that line with a little research. -----Original Message----- From: rogers-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:rogers-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Dorothy Hagerty Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2010 11:51 PM To: Rogers@rootsweb.com Subject: [ROGERS] Joseph M Rogers b 1805, Thomas H Rogers,b1802/3 - need parents, NY, Mich Please, someone must have a clue as to the parents of Joseph M Rogers 1805, and Thomas H Rogers b1802/3--- from Saratoga?
