    1. [ROGERS] Jefferson C. Rogers, descendant of Doswell Rogers?
    2. Jay Rogers
    3. I'm attempting to tie my great-grandfather, Jefferson C. Rogers, to Doswell Rogers of Virginia. Jefferson C. Rogers was listed in the Bledsoe Co., TN, 1850 census with his wife, Nancy Adaline Carder Rogers, and their three sons, James M., 2 1/2, and their 2-month-old twin sons, David F. and Ephraim Hicks. My DNA shows my line of descent is through Doswell Rogers. A Doswell Rogers came from VA to Tennessee (in the Bledsoe Co. area) in about 1800 with three sons. I think this is the line I tie into, but I have not been able to find JC in Doswell's deacendants. Any help in solving this (for me) 32-year mystery) would be greatly appreciated. Jay Rogers in San Antonio. TX.

Author: KLRogers56 Surnames: Rogers Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10772.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, Your post jumped right up in my face. It may be just a coincidence but my g-grandfather never married my g-grandmother. So my grandfather was also illegitimate. They lived in and around Benton, Franklin County, southern IL. My g-grandfather was William Randolph Rogers b.1872 and he did get around, I think he was "with" several women. If there is a connection here Will Randolph Rogers would have been about 63 years old when your grandfather was born. That's old but not too old to sire another offspring. W. R. Rogers d.1960 in West City, Franklin Co., IL. Let me know if there is anything I may be able to help you with. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: jcullen2 Surnames: Cocke Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10828.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am excited to find this posting. I am a volunteer with the Hays County Historical Commission in Hays County, Texas. I'm working on a Texas Historical Commission designation of the Cocke Cemetery--near Buda, Texas--as a Historic Texas Cemetery...anticipating a subsequent application for a state marker. Eliza (Rogers) Cocke apparently died in 1865 (Hays County? one family tree indicates so), but was apparently buried in the Cocke Family Cemetery in Karnes County, Texas. Her husband, son by the same name, his wife, and a couple of children are buried at the Cocke Cemetery in Hays County. I am very interested in learning of this family's comings and goings in Texas--and in Hays County, specifically. Thanks in advance for whatever assistance you may offer. It was great to find your posting of the Ellen Rogers will. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: SandraStephens50 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10921.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: According to the 1920 census, taken in January, he lived on Denson Springs Rd. Here is info about the Denson Springs cemetery - could he be there? Denson Springs Cemetery Slocum, Anderson County, Texas Cemeteries of Texas Coordinator: Dolores I. Bishop Located 6 mi. east of Slocum on SH 294, then .5 mi. north on CR 1220 Marker: Early settlers of this area, known as Ioni after a nearby Indian village, began arriving in the early 1830s. The land on which this cemetery is located was granted to James Bradshaw in 1835. When he died in 1844, the property was inherited by his brother, William, who moved here with his family from Nacogdoches in 1849. One of William Bradshaw's daughters, Diana, married Kindred Watkins in 1850. When their first child, a son, was born and died on August 15, 1851, he was buried near their home. The child's burial was the first in what would become Denson Springs Cemetery. Over the years, this one-acre plot became a family burial ground. Later, other settlers of the area were also buried here, and when the name of the community was changed in 1878 to Denson Springs, this site became known as the Denson Springs Cemetery. Besides the marked graves, it is believed there are a number of unmarked burials. Veterans of the Civil War, World War I, and World War II are interred here. T! he graveyard was deeded to the Denson Springs Cemetery Association in 1980. Set in a grove of trees, it is a quiet reminder of the area's early pioneers and settlers. Author: Lesa_Hale Surnames: Rogers, Garrett, Andrews Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10921/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking for any information about James Fortson Rogers. He was born 31 Jan 1880 in Palestine, Clark Arkansas. Married Respie Garrett who died in 1909. He then married Ella Francis Andrews. James or "Jim" as he was sometimes called, died 17 May 1920 in Slocum, Anderson, Texas. Family legend has it that he is buried in a field somewhere near where he was living. There was a boy buried there all by himself and Jim wanted to be buried by the boy so he wouldn't be lonely. The boy was moved some years later and Jim is supposedly there all by himself now. I would love to know if this is true and where Jim was actually buried. Would love to hear from anyone who has any information about this family. Thanks, Lesa Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: DarleneBell44 Surnames: ROGERS DARWIN STAFFORD BUTLER ANDERSON Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10920/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Is anyone on this Post doing research on the Ralph ROGERS that was born Mar 8, 1760 in New Jersey and died April 20, 1836 in Jackson Co., Tenn? He was married to 1st Mary GILKEY in South Carolina. Together they had 3 sons and 4 daughters. I know of John, Johnathan, Matthew, Edith, and Charissa. I am now looking for the 2 missing daughters. I belive that one of those missing ROGERS daughters married my 3XG Grandfather Richmond (Richman) DARWIN b. 1796 South Carolina d. Clay Co. Tennessee. That ROGERS wife would have died in Randolph Co., Illinois before the 1850 census. Then about 1854 Richmond left Illinois and moved back to Jackson Co., Tenn. where he married #2 Mary STAFFORD, BUTLER, ANDERSON. This Mary is mistaken by some researchers to be Ralph ROGERS unknown daughter but she's not. I'm just hoping someone can help me...
