If you have a moment, could you check to see if either of you have anyone in either of your trees who matches the info below? She was "Martha E." or "Eliza" (you could have her under "Elizabeth"), depending upon which census report you read, "Rogers" (although her marriage info says "Roggers"), bn. Feb. 1858 probably in Alabama (but could be TX). I found her on the 1900 census for Erath County TX and also on the 1910 Coke Cty. TX census listed living with her husband, Peter L. Daniels (1855 TX or AR) and their children (different ones recorded by different censuses). As I said, I (and a cousin, also) have been bashing my/our heads against this brick wall for many years and would so much appreciate ANY info you might be able to provide... Author: lilfishjean1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10931.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Annie Sue, Just a pointer or two that would expedite your getting replies on this board that could help you in your search: RE: SUBJECT LINE "Grandmother" really isn't helpful. It doesn't let us know what branch of the family you're talking about or the time period or place(s) involved. Many of us are busy people who simply scan the subject lines of postings for members of our family trees and, as all of us had/have "grandmothers", this is way too nebulous for most of us to even bother clicking on the posting to determine if we might have info for the poster or not. In your case, a much better subject line would have been: "Amie Amanda (Rogers) McCallie" or "John Thomas McCallie". This would quickly eliminate everyone who didn't have these given names and/or last name "McCallie" in their family trees, thereby saving everyone a lot of time and trouble. Also, many search engines only search the subject lines of postings and NOT the entire post. With the exact names in the subject line, you have MUCH more of chance of someone finding your post that can help you! RE: POSTING CONTENT It is also very helpful to include the approximate TIME PERIOD that you're talking about in the posting (such as: "1880s" or "1920s to 40s" or even the birth and death dates of one or more of the people you're asking about). That way, if someone reading it DOES have an "Amie Rogers" in their tree but, say, if YOUR "Amie Rogers" lived during the 1920s/30s/40s and THEIR "Amie Rogers" lived only during the 1700s, the reader would know that you're probably not talking about the same person. ALSO -- LOCATION(S): While you mention a "Mt. Mag" in your post, I (for one) have no IDEA where that is! (Country? State? County?) Many members of this board live in other countries even (like England and Australia), so a more detailed location for your ancestors would save those members from doing a lot of research through their trees for nothing. I hope you don't take offense -- Since you're new to these boards, I just thought I'd help you out by suggesting a few ways that you can increase your chances to find your ancestors and complete your family tree... (No charge! LOL! ;o) ) Good hunting! Kind regards, jean in California Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
