Your info is correct. What I can tell you is that our ancestor was rather elusive in terms of his own genealogy,No one really seems to be able to accurately identify when he arrived in NZ. Some say he came from Salem Masachusette others say he came from England. There were several Wm henry rogers who arrived in NZ at the same time. In 2012 the descendents of William and his first wife Peti will be having a reunion so we are hoping to have done a heap more research then. They did have a reunion in Rotorua in 1985 which included all the Bennets. Reccomentd that you go to whakapapaclub.org.nz and you will find quite a lot of info there. Hope this helps a wee bit. If not get back to me Cheers Connie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Here is my question. In my recent research I came across a family tree that looks well documented that has the following family tree in brief: John Rogers b. 1617 d. 1685 William Rogers b. 1657 d. ? Joseph Rogers b. 1694 d. 1751 in N.C. Michael Rogers b. 1738 d. 1791. In his will he states his sons as John, James, Willie, Cade and Berry and daughters as Becky and Salley. I have looked for information on Willie to see if I can find any data on him. I found nothing. I do find it very interesting that two of his brothers are named James and Cade. I know that sounds familiar to most of our group of Rogers researchers. James Kade (Cade) is the first son of our Wiley N Rogers. We know that Wiley has been spelled at Wyly, Willy and probably more variances. I wonder if Willie is another name variance. This family has Burwell, Drury, Britain, and many other familiar individuals in it. I have not been able to find any further data on Willie with his family. I would like to ask your opinion on this and if you need a copy of the pdf I have on the family let me know. Maybe this is something you have already studied. Your comments would be welcomed. Does anyone have knowledge of parents and/or ancestors for the John Rogers listed below? I'd like to find out if there is any relationship of this John Rogers and the Jeremiah Rogers I've been researching - both from Newport, though possibly a generation or two apart. My Jeremiah rogers was born in 1761 in Newport and had two sons there sometime between when he married in 1883 to Fannie Hoxsie and 1790 when the census was taken. He moved after that with his two sons, Thomas and George M., to Brandon, Vermont. The older, Thomas, was documented as born in Newport and he had children born in Lyons, Wayne County, New York, between 1812 and 1818 before returning to Brandon, VT. My notes for JOHN ROGERS: 1850 Census pg. 330 Rockingham, Windham, VT John ROGERS 63 Blacksmith Newport,RI Nancy " " 63 Bath,NH - nee Buck from Fred's birth record Mary G " 22 Rockingham,VT (Mary Green born Jan 27, 1829) Fred K " 18 Rockingham,VT (Fred Rogers born May 11, 1832) James C " 25 Rockingham,VT (James Calvert born May 28, 1823) Matching Marriages: 1) James Rogers (r. My g-g-g-g grandfather, Joseph Rogers was born in 1750 in Amelia Co., VA to John Rogers and ???. John Rogers' wife may have been an Osborne, Mobley or Ledford Both Joseph and his father moved to Fairfield District, SC by the 1770's. John Rogers died there in 1790. John's other children included: Thomas, Frances, Mary Jane, Richard, James, and William. According to Joseph's Rev. War Pension ap, he was in Fayette Co., KY by around 1790, GA (Oglethorpe) from about 1792-1805, and Rutherford and Bedford Co.s TN from about 1805 until his death ca 1830's. Can anyone help me with these families. You may contact me directly at _Joycecsp@aol.com_ (mailto:Joycecsp@aol.com) .
Our g-g-g-g grandfather was Joseph Rogers. He was born Sept 17, 1750. I know for a fact that he served in the Rev. War from Fairfield District, SC and we have his pension papers. Our question is: Has anyone joined the DAR using his military service? From the National Archives we obtained his pension file and in it was a letter dated around 1920 from a Miss Beatrice Timms who said she wanted to join the DAR under his name. Did she join the DAR under his name or did anyone else do so? Second question: Joseph Rogers' brother was William Rogers. He married Isabella "Sibbey" Ledford and lived out his life in Union Co., SC. We have seen that he had fought in the Revolutionary War. Has anyone joined the DAR or SAR on William and does the DAR have any biographical information on him? We would appreciate any help in searching the DAR or the SAR. You may contact me through this list or directly at _Joycecsp@aol.com_ (mailto:Joycecsp@aol.com) . If you are descended from either Joseph or William please contact me as we are eager to share information with you. Joyce Phillips
William A. Rogers born abt 1748 married Isabella "Sibby" Ledford died 15 Nov 1822 Union County, SC My cousin and I have been searching for many years for the brothers and sisters of our Joseph Rogers born 17 Sept 1750 in Amelia Co, Virginia and died about 1839 in Bedford County, TN. We believe that William is definitely the brother of our Joseph. We would like to hear from anyone who descends from this line. We know the father of Joseph and William was John Rogers and we know that William and Isabelle Ledford had at least 12 children. They are as follows: 1. William A. Rogers, Jr., 1767 d 1839 m Mary Cobb and Mary Burrwell 2. Fanny Rogers b 1722 d bef 1822 3. Molly Rogers b 1781 d 1840 m Simon Jenkins 4. Thomas Rogers b 1783 5. Amy Rogers b 1789 6.
