The latter married Susanna Mitchell (Sukey Michell) in Gwennap on 9 June 1821. Their eldest daughter Susan Mitchell Rogers married George Dennis on 6 September 1845 at Sancreed, Cornwall. My book 'From Buryan to Bondi - the Dennis Family of West Penwith, Cornwall, and some Australian Descendants', published in 2008, contains 15 pages of biographical material on the family of origin of Susan Mitchell Rogers. However I would like to know more about Susan's brother Joseph Mitchell Rogers. He migrated to Sydney with his second wife Margaret Ann Spargo, and the children of his first marriage, on Camperdown in 1880. 1. [ROGERS] Obits of Sarah J. Carrothers & ELIZABETH M. BEATTIE
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: yaros1 Surnames: Carrothers, Beattie, Rogers Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10991/mb.ashx Message Board Post: BEATTIE OBITUARIES, DEFIANCE COUNTY , OHIO NUMBER ONE : Sarah J. Carrothers was born in Richland county, Ohio March 22, 1823. Died in Defiance county Feb. 7, 1902, aged 78 years, 10 months and 15 days. She was of a family of 9 children, all of whom have preceded her beyond except one brother, who still resides in Richland county. She was married to SAMUEL K. BEATTIE in 1842. To this union were born 7 children, two of whom have passed on before her. She was one of the pioneers of Defiance county, having lived here about 53 years. At the age of 16 she united with the Presbyterian church. After coming to this county she united with the U.B. church of Williams Center, of which she remained a faithful member until the time of her death. She leaves 23 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services in Union church by her pastor, Rev. Ballinger. Burial in Farmer cemetery. NUMBER TWO: ELIZABETH M. BEATTIE was born near Mansfield, Ohio, August 5, 1847, and died April 13, 1908, aged 60 years, 8 months and 8 days. With her parents she came to Defiance county, Ohio, when about two years old and lived in the vicinity of Farmer Center until her decease. She was united in marriage with C. M. Rogers, January 1, 1867. To them were born six children, one of whom preceded her to the better land, of which she so often spoke. At the age of 18 years she was converted and joined the M.E. church at Williams Center. Later she was identified with the German Reformed church and in 1887 a United Brethren society was organized in the vicinity of Dry Creek, of which she became a charter member, and remained an active and honored member until her death. Sister Rogers was one of the noble women of the community. No sacrifice was too great for her to make for others. A devoted wife, loving mother, kind and obliging as a neighbor. She was devotedly attached to the church of her choice and delighted in the services iof the sanctuary. It is not surprising that when the end came she passed peacefully into the beyond. She leaves husband, two daughters, three sons, sixteen grandchildren, one sister and three brothers with many other relatives and a host of friends who mourn her departure. Funeral services occurred last Thursday from the church at Farmer Center, conducted by her pastor, Rev. R.H. Turner, assisted by Elder J.W. Lilly. Submitted By: Steven J. Yaros Jr. ( L- 469 ) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [ROGERS] Charles Dennison Rogers of Connecticut (1833)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: bobnbee Surnames: Rogers, Hart Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10987/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My 3rd Grandfather was Charles Dennison Rogers born in Connecticut. He married Ann Eliza Hart of Port Jefferson NY in 1852. She died in San Francisco in 1899. He later married an Emma Till of Philadelphia. One of the online books on the Rogers families mentions this link, but leaves out my 2nd Grandfather James Henry Rogers born 1860 of Williamsburg area of Brooklyn NY. This is presenting a big discontinuity in my geneology. Ann Eliza (as A.E. Smith) lived in 1880 in St. Paul MN with James Henry. I can't find any marriage, birth, divorce or other information between the 1852 marriage and the 1880 census. I find Charles Dennison in the 1870 census in Philadelphia, but no mention anywhere of Ann Eliza or James Henry Has anyone looked into any of this? I am glad to make connection with you. I will get my notes and some photos together so we can compare notes. I know what you mean about the cold trails. I have been on so many of them. I have been trying to get photos of all the children of William Christopher and Martha Stipes Lawson's children. Also, I met a Preston Rogers this summer. Do you have him in your line. His parents passed away recently. I think he will be a relative, he said his ancestors went to MO. I visited the area where his parents lived. It is in the area of the Lawson's in 1850. My grandparents lived in that area until their deaths. I am still trying to find proof that Jonas Lawson was in our line. I feel like I know him. I will be sad if he is not in my line. I just cannot find solid proof - yet. I plan to go to the Archives once a week and research, just have not made it yet.
