Author: skavboke Surnames: Herrick and Gray Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/5303.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been searching for the Herrick family for several years. I have Moses Herrick married to Anna Gray, but I can not figured what happened to them after 1860. Family members moved several places, some to Ontario, Canada, others to Medina Co, Ohio and some to Genesee Co, Michigan. In 1860, Sarah Herrick b abt 1835 is with her uncle William Gray in York twp, Medina, OH Elijah W may be in Medina Co OH also working as a 17 yr old farm laborer. In 1863, an Elijah Herrick of Rochester (near Genesee Co NY) has enlisted in the Civil War. These may or may not be the same person. I pick Elijah up in Bay Co MI in 1900, 1910 Vernon, Waukesha, WI, and 1920 Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, WI I have 2 marriages or two different Elijah's one marriage to a Rosa abt 1887 with a son Arthur W Herrick b 1890 and another to Samantha, mar abt 1865 Genesee Co Michigan. William H Herrick lived in Branch Co, MI, mar a Sarah E Myers and has 7 known children. There is a Moses Herrick in Racine, WI in 1860, but he is also in Bergen, Genesse, NY in 1860. I'll check again but I thought I ruled out the Moses Herrick in Racine. I have no information on Elizabeth, Mary Mariette, Darwin or Ella. Ella could be a nickname for Helen. Author: shrp6 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/5944.2.2.1.2.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: LouAnn, My William Rogers was (ca. 1755 MD - abt 1830-34, Adams Co., OH). He may connect with the Rogers family of whom you write. I am aware of the following. There were many Rogers in MD and they were Quakers. A line with the common names, William, John, Thomas, did migrate from MD to Adams Co. OH (after 1800); I have not been able to find the kin link to mine, though I suspect there is one. Many of this family migrated to KY, then some came up to southeast IN. Others came to the Bluegrass ca. 1800 from VA (likely today's WVA). I am aware of a Rogers family (I think John Rogers, part Native American) who migrated into Brown Co., IN and operated a well-known restaurant near Brown Co. State Park, at Nashville, IN. I believe there was a Napolean Rogers in the line. Some of the KY Rogers were in Decatur Co., IN where mine moved in the 1800s. I know they were active in the religious reformation which required divestiture of slaves, and some persons were inheriting slaves where the legal instrument forbade them to free them, so some conscientious persons in these circumstances simply relocated so they could leave their slaves behind and moved to states where laws prohibited keeping slaves. I know one the Rogers family in the Bluegrass were leaders in religious reform. Though MO was not a free state yet, families migrated together as well. Some migrations across the Ohio and west were just about That is the only direction I can offer on your search. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: jamerm Surnames: Rogers Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/11016.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Greetings Billy: I may be able to help you, if I had more information from your post. I have several Rogers's names in my database from Tennessee including a George W. Rogers, but for a different date of birth than yours. I would be happy to share all my Rogers information with you. Could you please answer the following questions I have about your post? If you do not have any of the information please let me know that in your answers. I would appreciate it if you could keep your answers in the same numerical sequence I have used. 1. Where did you get the information about your George Monroe Rogers? Was it something you saw written somewhere or was it based on what someone told you? 2. What are the documents you discovered that say George Monroe's father was a George W. Rogers. How did you happen to discover those documents? Who had possession of them? 3. What data/information do you have about the "quite a few" George Washington Rogers born in Tennessee? Where and how did you acquire your information about these other George Washingtons? Did you discover any information about these other Georges' parents, spouses, children, or other relatives? 4. Has anyone in your family been helping you with your family history research? 5. Does any of your information contain complete dates for births, marriages, or deaths? By complete dates, I mean the day of the event, the month of the event and the year of the event. Does any of your information contain complete locations of the events? Complete locations would be the city, county, state, and country if born outside the United States. Does your data have complete names for the Individuals you refer to in your post? Complete names would be the first name, the middle name, the surname, and in the case of female spouses, their maiden names? 6. Do you have someone that could help you get the answers to these questions? If that person(s) has questions about any part of what I have asked for they could email me or call me directly at 801-581-1087. You are also welcome to call me. You could post your answers on the message boards that you have been using or you could send the information to me offline, at my email address, which is jamerm@comcast.net. Your friend, Jim McIntosh Please have a great day with your best friend - our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
