    3. Attn NN Looper I have found and jotted down a Larkin Rogers that traded land 1825 in Huntsville land office AL and again in 1848. I have suspissions that he may be the father of my GGG-grandfather James Rogers b. TN 1795. Larkin and my James had land next to each otherin AL. I don't have siblings for James for certain but maybe a sister named Anna Naomi.. James also had inlaws near him named Speaks. 3. Lynnn, I am a researcher of William Rogers (Sr.) from Union Co., SC. I believe him to be the brother of my ancestor, Joseph Rogers, born Sept 17, 1750 in Amelia Co., VA. I will be happy to explore any of this with you. I already had your Simeon in my database as being born ca 1804. My source was Anita Brooke Ratliff (anitaratliff@yahoo.com). I am most happy to have your updated info as I did not have a spouse or children for Simeon. I cannot verify that your Simeon is the son of William Rogers, Jr. but if he is, he is most likely the great-grandson of a John Rogers who died in Fairfield Co.,SC in 1790 (leaving a will). If you have an interest in joining in the search, I and my cousin Joyce will welcome you to the search and be glad to work with you in any way. Would you be so kind as to make a post and to e-mail me separately with how you descend from Siimeon. I am tracking all descendents of John Rogers and will have happy to have the information. Linda Rogers Grinnell fultimers@yahoo.com I have re-subscribed to this list today after a long absence. In searching for my ancestor, Simeon P. Rogers, I just recently learned that he may have come from Union Co., SC and was possibly the s/o William A. Rogers, Jr. (although a listing from Rootsweb.com does not show him.) Simeon was b. 1804 SC. From the Pickens famiy history, I see that he was an overseer on Col Robert Pickens' estate in Three & Twenty, Anderson Co. SC. He married the d/o Col Robert and Martha (Patty) Smith Pickens, Margaret (Peggy) Pickens in 1832. Peggy was b.1816. About 1844, Simeon and Peggy moved to Forsyth Co. GA where I find they are buried in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Simeon d. 1896 and Peggy in 1915. Simeon and Peggy had 11 children: Nancy S. (1833-1845) William Jefferson (1836-1864) Mary Ann (1838-1921) Robert Pickens (1840-1920) Martha I. (1842- Sara S. (1844-1944) - Aunt Sallie lived to be over 100. James O. (1846- Margaret E (1848-1913) Julia A. (1850-1942) Emeline Franklin (1853-1918) - This is my line. Emeline married Seaborn Madison Westbrook and moved to Cherokee Co. GA Levi Wesley (1854-1890) After searching for many years, I am hopeful that someone has run across my Simeon and can help me verify his parents. I would appreciate any leads. 1. [ROGERS] Joel Rogers
    2. NEAL MULLINS
    3. Hello list, I have sent this request out before, but it's been a little while, so thought I might try again. Would anyone on the list know who the parents of Joel Rogers were. He married Sarah (Sally) Norred in Bibb Co., AL on September 26, 1822. Joel was born abt. 1798 somewhere in North Carolina. A document that was found pointed toward his being from Wake Co., NC but no proof as of yet. Joel and Sally had two sons while in Alabama. The oldest son was Marshall P. Rogers born abt. 1825, the other was William Rogers born abt. 1826. The family moved to Weakley Co., TN and was there on the 1830 census. Two sons were born while the family was in TN...James Rogers born abt. 1828 and George Rogers born abt. 1830. The family them moved to Leake Co., Mississippi. They were in Leake Co. from 1835 - 1850 where the who family was listed - including wives of the sons and a daughter Caroline Rogers who had been born abt. 1838. The wives were as follows: Marshall P.'s wife was listed as Sarah (no idea of what the last name was) and they had two children listed - Leonidas and Laura Br! unelle. William's wife was Eliza (possibly Eliza Altman from SC or GA). James' wife was Sophronia Broadway. George's wife was Mary Elizabeth Rawl. Caroline Rogers was listed as being 12 years old (daughter of Joel and Sally Rogers). The only other Rogers listed on the 1820 census for Bibb Co., AL along with Joel Rogers was a Jesse Rogers. I have no idea if they were related or not. I have been told that there were several Rogers in the adjoining Tuscaloosa Co., AL, but have not been able to make a definate connection. If anyone has any information about Joel Rogers or who his parents were, I would greatly appreciate the information. Thank You! Eileen Rogers Mullins nemullins@msn.com

    1. Re: [ROGERS] SIMEON ROGERS
    2. Lynne, I am searching for information on my GG-Grandfather Emsley Rogers. I have different documents telling me he was born in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia! It's a little tough to figure out just where since I can't tie another person to him before his marriage. Any time I run across someone searching Rogers in the early 1800 time frame, when Emsley was born in one of those three places, I try to communicate with them to see if we can find any connection at all. Emsley shows up in Darke County Ohio for his marriage and is on several census listings after that. I have found a lot of documents and even have a picture of him as an older man passed on to me by another very generous Rogers researcher. He owned a fairly large amount of property and I have been to the property and also located his and his wife's gravesites in Ohio. If your Simeon had any family in Ohio, please let me know. Perhaps we can match something up and at least get some peripheral information on our ancestors.
