I am looking for information on Dr. George B. ROGERS who was one of the first physicians to practice in Schuyler County, Illinois. He came to Schuyler County between 1836-1839. He was born about 1799 in Virginia according to the 1850 Rushville census. Living with him in 1850 were the following ROGERS: Sophia born abt.1829 in Vermont Henry C. born abt.1829 in Kentucky Katharina born abt.1821 in Illinois George B. born abt.1834 in Illinois Tallmadge born abt 1841 in Illinois Ralph born abt.1846 in Illinois Dr. George B. ROGERS died in Schuyler County, Illinois on July 19, 1851. Unknown where he was buried. I did find two marriages in Schuyler County, IL. showing a George B. ROGERS marring Mary ROBERTSON on Oct. 1, 1844 and then Sophia BLISS on Sept. 5, 1849, but I am not sure these marriages are for Dr. George ROGERS. I am not sure what became of the other ROGERS listed in 1850 census. ------------------------------------------------------------ Also looking for information on Jenken ROGERS and his family who were in the 1840 Schuyler County, Illinois census precinct 3. Any help would be appreciated. Judi ROGERS GILKER jgilker@adams.net

I'm still -- after 15 years of searching -- looking for information on William Rogers, b. 1775-1800, son of Clayton and Betridge Sadler Rogers of Chester County, SC. All I know about William is that he had a son, Jefferson C. Rogers (my great-grandfather) born somewhere in Tennessee in 1820. I've been told William had 14 kids -- 4 daughters and 10 sons. I've also been told of those 10 sons, 7 (not including Jefferson C.) were Methodist ministers. Any help on locating William wouild be greatly appreciated. Jay Rogers in San Antonio TX

I count William, Frank, May/Mae, Stella, Charles, Walter, Mary/Marie, Zena, Jennie, John, Paul, Richard & Russel. In 1930 Stella had married a Bowman and there is also a grandson named Henry Conyler [difficult to read]. I am just starting to work on this family and am most interested in the daughter May/Mae. Konnie, I do NOT believe that there is any connection of the Doswell family at all to the Dowdswell family. We visited with the Doswell family in VA and got their genealogy. This supposed professional genealogist was the one who created this myth. I bought this Rogers book thinking that he had found the connection because he used it as HIS documentation. We talked to him personally in Richmond at the Archives. We then discovered that we knew more than he did about Doswell. I have since sent a correction to the library where his papers are stating that he had made a giant MISTAKE on my family tree trying to connect them to the Dowdswell family of England instead of the Doswell family of VA. What Chan found will have be disputed with some heavy duty documentation. I don't think that anyone will ever be able to refute this theory. There is just too much circumstancial evidence pointing to Catherine Doswell as Doswell's mother. I have added even more evidence since April because I am profiling all of the Adenstone and Doswell Rogers who lead back into Lee/Scott Cos. VA, Hawkins Co. TN, and down into the Sequatchie Valley to Hamilton Co.TN. Eleanor > Eleanor, > > There goes my theory! <G> Maybe the family of Catherine Doswell had > something to do with the location of Dowdeswell, as well. > > Konnie
