This history is derived from Bible records, census records, wills, county histories and information from other members who have researched this line. I welcome any corrections that can be proven by official documents and not memories taken years after the event. I have been unable to find the parents of William Rogers and Chacey/ Chasey/ Chassey Jones. I have some hunches but until I can verify these with official documents, they will remain hunches. I feel they were connected to the Thomas and Charity Rogers family of Halifax County, North Carolina. They had children named: William, John, Shadrack, Pleasant and Randolph. If any one has any information concerning: 1.) the dates and location of the marriage of William and Chacey, 2.) the family of Thomas Rogers especially his siblings and 3.) the history of any children of William and Chacey that I do not have, I would welcome the ! > data. I am willing to correct any information when you can officially document these changes by records and not the sworn affidavits based on memories of people long after the fact. > > William Rogers (about 1776- 1828 –9) He was born in North Carolina according to his family. > Chacey Jones (about 1776-1852) She supposedly was born in South Carolina however in the 1850 census she says North Carolina. > Jones Rogers (10/14/1798-October 12, 1863) He was born in North Carolina, which indicates that Chacey may have been born in North Carolina and he died in Franklin County Arkansas. > Sarah Sharp King (1802-1865) > > Lucinda Rogers (3/22/1822-??) > Edward F. They are: > > 1.) The 1820 census has the following: 231201/10001. I have the following: 1798 Jones 22 in 1820, 1801 Pleasant 19, 1807 William 13, 1809 Samuel 11, 1810 Green 10, 1815 Jesse 5, and 1817 James Allen 3. This leaves on male born between 1811 and 1814. The only female would have been born between 1802 and 1804 age 16-18 in 1820. According to Jim McMullin the family Bible of Lura Rogers (raised by William and Mary Blount Rogers an infant death was recorded. I would assume infant was from 0 to 5. If that is the case who was the child in position 3 above ? > 2.) Also the only female married Michael McMackin , does anyone have these children and the location of the family? > 3.) I also found in a book in Waverly called The History of Tumbling Creek the following; a.) a picture of the Rogers homestead. ( I do not know which Rogers i.e. William, Pherrell, Green etc.), b.) in 1807 the East side of Tumbling Creek was in Hickman County and in 1809 the North West side was in Humphreys County. When the lines were redrawn in 1835 the entire Creek move into Humphreys County. c.) William Rogers received a grant for 300 acres in 1808. He sold 100 acres to Richard Byran in 1812 for $200. According to Goodspeed Pleasant was a young lad when they moved to Tennessee, since he was born in 1801 that means he was born in North Carolina and they moved between 1801 and 1807, d.) the farms were arranged this way Pullen land, Eli Qualls land, William Rogers, and above this land was Michael McMackin. The Lemmon farm is now on the Rogers land and it is called the SKYWAY RANCH. Above the Rogers land was the JOHN JOHNSON PLANTATION which is now owned by Stanley and Paul! > ine James and it is called the LAZY J ranch. The Michael MacMackin place is now owned by Jimmy and Joyce Baker. It is supposed to have a good spring on the south side. Now the question is now many of the original settlers came with William Rogers from North Carolina. They were John Walker, John Hales, Peter Crowell, Jonathan Carter, John Hales/Hailes, Peter Crowell, Edward Springer, Ezekial Baker, John Forbiss, John Duff, Druary Taylor, Jonathan May, William May, Abraham Baily, Anthony Peeler, Rhoda Ethridge, Wyley Sanders, Jeremiah Ethridge, William Tubb, Benjamine Berry Robert Easley, Henry Luten, Kinchen Perry, Martin Langford, Thomas Boles, Dennis Cannon, John Johnson, John Page John Dunagan, Isaaac Sparks, John Rice, Crawford and Ephrin Goodwin, Abraham Box and Roderick McLead. If any names appear in the 1790 census of North Carolina in the same county would that be a clue to where William lived prior to his move? > 4.) I have the following information: according to one sworn statement from Oklahoma by Howard L. Prather his mother was a third cousin to William Boudinot’s wife. The line is as follows: Caroline Matilda Rogers (Boudinot) 3 rd cousin Edie Caroline Rogers, Charles Rogers ( married Nancy Downing) 2 nd cousin Pleasant Rogers (married Phoebe Hickman ) John Rogers married Elizabeth Emory 1 st cousin William Rogers. Now according to the descendants of Old Corntassel, Charles Rogers and Nancy Downing had Pleasant Rogers and Eliza Rogers. John Rogers was English and a trader and they were connected to Chief William Charles Rogers and Will Rogers. If this is the case, then the parents of John and William were brothers. Does anyone have these the parents of John Rogers? > 5.) Tina Bellar sent me the following: Stanley County North Carolina Book 37, page 26 12/19/1794 John Rogers and wife Silvey of Mecklenburg North Carolina let JAMES MCMACKIN of Cabarrus County North Carolina have 100 acres of land on Long Creek next to George Hoffner for 40 pounds Witness: WILLIAM ROGERS AND MICHAEL MCMACKIN. Michael MacMackin married Patsy Rogers on 1/3/1795 in Rowan County North Carolina. If Patsy and William are siblings then this is a tie to certain counties in North Carolina. > 6.) Finally if Michael Mc Mackin moved with William Rogers to Tennessee then his son may have married William’s daughter. William Rogers and Michael McMackin were witnesses to an indenture in Hickman County on 10/18/1825 between James Crowell and Charles Rich on Indian Creek. James Spicer (see above the marriage of Pleasant Rogers and Sarah Spicer) married a second time the daughter of Charles Rich. > > Most of the families lived in Humphreys County Tennessee but Jones moved to Arkansas, Samuel moved to Benton County Tennessee, and little is known about James Allen and Green. > > I have some data on the Hickman, Teas and Anderson families. I have most documentation on paper but will copy for anyone who wants verification. I also request that you not send any e-mails that try to change the information unless you can verify with paper documents based on first hand , current information from the individuals. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EkDBAIB/5835 Message Board Post: I am going to place on this site the complete history of the Rogers family as I have found it. Simpson Green Rogers (1810-??) Green Berry Rogers (9/18/1832-??) Benjamin Franklin Rogers (1/19/1835-) I now have several questions and would appreciate any help on the answers. They are: 1.) The 1820 census has the following: 231201/10001. I look forward to receiving any new information that will build an accurate, well documented family history. John Thomas jwstreak@yahoo.com

ROGERS, b: 1822 in NY. Eliza m: Samuel W. SPENCER, probably in NY and had Ellen A. "Nellie" ROGERS SPENCER in 1842 in NY. Ellen appears to be the only child. The family moved to Aurora, Portage, OH sometime between Ellen's birth in 1842 and 1850 when the family appears on the census there. Censuses show that Eliza ROGERS's father was born in MA and her mother was born in VT. I am wondering if my ROGERS family could be connected to Zephaniah. If anyone can make a match or even an educated guess, I would appreciate a reply.
