    1. [ROGERS] Mary M. Rogers/James Wilson Glenn
    2. Carol Andrews
    3. I have been searching for several years for my great great GrandMother, Mary M. (could have a middle name of Mur or Muir) Rodgers (Rogers or Roggers) born June 30, 1808. The birth date comes from a family bible belonging to the Glenn Family. Mary married James Wilson Glenn on June 9, 1823 in White County, Tennessee. James and Mary moved from Tennessee to Illinois and then settled in Arkansas. This is all the information that I have on Mary. Does this fit with any Rogers' family that is being researched on this list? 1. [ROGERS] John Rogers
    2. Hi, I'm new on this list. I am trying to find more information about JOHN ROGERS. I have a bio of a great grandfather from 1880 or so in Brown County, Ohio which indicates "his paternal grandmother was a Miss Hilliard and a member of the John Rogers family". Well, the grandmother is PRISCILLA HILLIARD b.Sept. 1749 in Little Compton, RI, who married JOHN EARL of Westport, MA in 1770. But, who is JOHN ROGERS and what is the exact connection? Is he simply a Mayflower descendant or am I supposed to know something more about him? I would appreciate any guidance you can give me. Thanks. - Fran in Florida

    2. I note with interest your comment about a Thad Rogers Cem. on Fines Creek.. Some time back when I was doing research on my Grandfather Richard Wiley Rodgers b. abt 1855 in Knoxville TN area , I got a picture that apparently had been treasured by Richard for some years and after he died one of his sons ended up with the picture and on the back in has writtin Tad Rogers , no one in the family knows for sure who this Tad was ..... 3. Dear Phoebe, The James Rogers that is 40 in 1850 is not ours. We have not quite figured out which James that one is, but we believe him to be related somehow back in Tennessee. If you know the Rogers line, you know that James was a VERY common name among them. The James, William and Mary in Shiloh Cemetery IS my family. As for it being James R., we have one record that says our James had a middle name of Braden and his son was James Braden Jr. and his son was James Reuben. We have a bible record that says his middle name was Rueben, his son was James Rueben Jr. and his son was James Braden. We chose to use the Braden middle name because we got that from my mother, who got that from her grandfather, William H. Rogers, and grandmother, Mary Susan Munsey Rogers. We also got his and William's marriage record from the Missouri archives that states James's middle name was Braden. So, we are not sure which to go with. HOWEVER, we may have to change that due to the fact that we have found a couple other facts that my mom gave me that were also incorrect and have actual PAPER documents that disagree with her story. We have also been in contact with a descendent of Ollie Belle Rogers Williams, one of the O'Dells, that is checking on t! hings down there and trying to clear that up. Thank you for your reply. It is greatly appreciated and we will follow-up with what we may find on James. Sincerely, Reta and Bill Musgrave Phoebe Lemons <plemons74@sbcglobal.net> wrote: For Bill Musgrave Thanks for your reply. Would your James Rogers have been 40 in 1850. In tahe Shiloah cemetery is a James Rogers who was born in 1814 and I had wondered who this fellow was. Close to him is a Wm. H. who was born in 1862 abd dued in 1941, His wife was Mary Susan born in 1859. Could this be your family. The dates on the tombstones do not match the dates on the census--but they may be the same family. You can probably clear this up for me. The Shiloah cemetery is in Webster Co. not too far from the Greene Co. line. In fact the cemetery is close to the Pat Jones farm (Pat is deceased but his widow still lives there). Tjey are the parents of Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys. This James is listed as James R. on the tombstone-- born Feb. 8, 1814 and died Jan. 8, 1889. I had thought this could have been the James Rogers from Rhea Co. that had married Phoebe Owens but I could not verify this idea. I do live in Springfield but grew up in Jackson Township which is the northeast corner of Greene county. I grew up about 3 to five miles from each , Webster, Dallas and Pollk counties. Will be interested to know if this is your family. In the 1840 census, the onlyu Rogers listed is my gr gr grandfather, Joseph and then William M. who was from Marion Co. Tenn and a member of the family that settled Rogersville, Mo, it being on the Greene and Webster Counties line at the south east of the county. 3. Bill I tried to reply earlier tonight but something happened on this machine and I could not get on the internet untill now. I am glad to know about your Rogers. I do find your Rogers ( I think it is yours) burried in the Shiloah Cemeatery in Webster Co. It shows in the cemetery book as James R. Rogers born 1814 and diedJan 8, 1889, Your aWilliam H. is there also with his wife Mary Susan. I haave not found them in the census unless they are the James Rogers that are in the 1850 census . The wife's name was Jane. Thomas H. was 10 and born in Tenn. W.H>H> was 7 born in Tenn , James F. was 6 born in Mo./ Chas. H. was 4 born in Missouri. James was 40 born in Tenn anad Jane his wife was 42 born in Tenn. Shiloah Cemetery is in Webster Co. not far from the Greene Co. line. It is located on a hill across the road from the Pat Jones Animal Paradise farm. Pat is deceased but his widow is still living there. The Jones are the parents of Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys. Thanks for this information. I think this James Rogers later married a Permelia Bagby. I do not find where she is burried. I did check in our Greene Co. Archives and found some records there somewhere around 1880--give or take a few years. I believe at one time they were in Jackson township in Greene Co. but I would have to go back and check the particulars. I grew up in Jackson township of Greene Co. and I was trying to think this could be the James Rogers that has married Phoebe Owens in Rhea Co. Tenn and came to Greene Co --the part that became Webster Co. when it was formed but this could not be since these two older boys were born in Tenn. unless he returned to Tenn and married this Jane after Phoebe Owens Rogers died. That James and Phoebe Owens Rogers had at least two children. One was Ann Rogers who married Sampson Bass the oldest son of Andrew Jackson Bass of Jackson Township. The son was Columbus Rogers and I have not found him since thie 1850 census where he was in the household of Alexander C. Owens--who was a brother to Phoebe Owens Rogers. There may have been another girl but I cannot be sure. In the 1840 census in the household of Henry Owens , the father of Phoebe Owens Rogers, was a male that would fit the age of James and a male that would fit the age of Columbus and two females between 5 and 10. Ann would be one and the other would be a sister. I have done some extensive research on these Rogers. But this James Rogers was the son of James and Anna Blair Rogers of Rhea Co., Tenn. James Rogers and Anna Blair were married in Blount Co. Tenn in 1801. This Anna Blair was born in Virginia. I have quite a bit of information on this family. My connection with that family is through Sampson Bass. My gr grandmother was a sister to Sampson Bass. The Bass family came to Missouri in 1830 before Greene Co. was formed in 1833. Sampson Bass was very close to my gr grandfather Rogers and together they went bond for another Bass--half the amount of that bond would have been about the value of the farm that my gr grandfather owned, Do you have more information on your James Rogers--that would help us to sort out the different Rogers here in Greene Co. I live now in Springfield but only about 15 milles from where I grew up. My own Rogers settled in Jackson Township in 1835 which was within a two to five miles from the Polk, Dallas and Webster Co. lines. Will look forward to hearing from you. My Rogers line came from Wilson County, Tennessee to Missouri about 1835-1840 also. The first to come to Missouri was James Braden Rogers who went to the Webster/Greene County area. One of his children, William H. Rogers, is my Great Grandfather. One of William's sons, Joseph Whit, is my granfather. This line descended from the Henry Harper Rogers line of Chatham North Carolina. At this point, I do not see a connection. However, since both our lines come from the same general area and migrated to the same area, I am sure there is a connection somewhere back in either North Carolina or Tennessee. I also noticed that you have sbcglobal also, we must be from about the same area. I am in SW Michigan. Thanks again for replying and I will keep your family and e-mail address handy in case we come across anything that will help you.
