Surnames: Rogers Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EkDBAIB/6045 Message Board Post: I have done a lot of research about my family. I have found some conflicting information. I know some of the Rogerses in Orr's Rifles were from Pickens District ( Company C ) and some from Marion ( Company H ) The Rogerses I am looking for were sons of James Rogers, Jr. and Nancy Capehart Rogers. I know two of the sons were John W. Rogers and Leonard Rogers. I have been told they had eight brothers. I am not sure. I would like more information about a Lt. Hugh G. (Huger) Rogers killed in battle in 1864.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EkDBAIB/4144.1.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Well, I'll have to ask my mil where my fil knew his grandfather, but I'm assuming it was in Floral, Arkansas, or Texas...he was very close to his grandfather, he always said. And he did tell the story about him losing two fingers in battle- Pea Ridge I think he said, and they just bandaged him up and gave him a rifle and put him back out there. Robert alexander was his uncle...my fil was named Robert also for him, and middle name Arthur, after his father. It's weird, the lists don't list his father, who was named Arthur Jay. Bruce Arthur was his brother, as was your ancestor. II can't find all my geneaological stuff at this moment- heaven alone knows where I put them. But I'll keep looking. Since my fil was one of the eldest of Arthur's children (although I THINK that Arthur was one of the younger ones, right before Bruce, I believe) he knew lots of his relatives. He had a million stories about them, and often used to take my husband and the other kids down to Arkansas and to Texas to see their relatives. Arthur, btw, married a Margaret Chambers from Brooklyn NY whom he met when he was in the merchant marines. My father in law said that he (Arthur) and his brother Bruce were Rough Riders, and we even had a picture of the two of them in Rough Rider uniforms, but all the Rough Rider lists curiously omit that name, so I think there may have been some tall tales involved. I'll send you more info when I have it, okay?

    3. Thats what I thought the answer would,be. I have done lots of research on the ROGERS in Jefferson County,NY. My wife is a descendant of ISAAC ROGERS and RHODA CHASE his wife. ISAAC ROGERS died ca. 1846 at Adams.Rhoda died a few tears later. They had a son JOHN who is my wifes ancestor. He lived to be 105 tears of age. He is buried in the Limerick Cemetery. I may have some info on the ROGERS mentioned in the first message. I know I have info on the ROGERS of Philadelphia.
