    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EkDBAIB/6062.1.2 Message Board Post: David, Do you have any idea where your Daniel was born? The family listed in this post is from Philadelphia, and that is where this Daniel was born, I think. There are a lot of Rogers in the Carolinas and later in more western states, too. I have checked my data, and I have a Daniel Rogers born November 28, 1831; but I have no other information about him, except I believe he was out of his parents' house by the 1850 census. I don't know if he died, or if he had moved away, since he would have been 19 at the time of the census. Daniel's parents were Benjamin Franklin Rogers, Sr. and Margaret Kirkwood Rogers. Using the naming patterns that were in use generally at the time, it is possible that Daniel was named for Benjamin's father. That is the end of the trail for me on this line right now. Another point to remember is that your date(s) could be off unless you have seen primary source evidence of the date of birth. Keep an open mind, and good hunting.

    1. Re: [ROGERS] Re: Timothy Rogers and Quakers
    2. I do not recognize the names here and I'm not certain my family was Quaker but have always suspected there was some connection. Oldest name I know is Prudence Rogers (born ca. 1735 likely in VA - was in Cumberland County, VA by 1760). Her son was Ansel (b. 1766) and other males in the family were named Absolam, Isham, etc ... simply the names lead me to believe there's a Quaker connection. This family was "mixed race" and possible the connection could have begun with an indenture or even Indian slave .. Gary

    3. Hi Helen: I really don't know if I should be the one to respond to your email. Timothy doesn't ring a bell with my family but the Quakers do. Asel Rogers (Quaker) was born in Philadelphia,Jefferson County, New York in 1800 and died there in 1884. There was several siblings in the family but none with the name Timothy. Asel was married to a lady called Mercy and then to Esther Stewart. I have a list of Asels children (approx 10) from the 1850 census of that county. Hope we can make a connection here. Sure would be terrific Wayne E-Mail address: stretch@bmts.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <msbrown79@sympatico.ca> To: <ROGERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 10, 2004 5:12 PM Subject: [ROGERS] Re: Timothy Rogers and Quakers > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EkDBAIB/3058.3387.3481.3482.3498.35 01 > > Message Board Post: > > I have the line of the Rogers you are discussing.
