    1. [ROGERS] Joseph Rogers and Giles County
    2. David, I would like to learn more about your Rogers Lines as Giles County is indeed one of the counties we research for our Rogers I was very interested in the fact you think that Joseph could be born in SC. We have information about Joseph and his family lines and would be happy to share with you. Please let me ear from you either through the Rogers List or [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) . I am very interested in what information you have about Joseph. Thank you for responding and hope to hear from you. Joyce Phillips I don't know if my Rogers line and yours are the same line, but I was interested in the fact you have one of the Rogers moving to Tennessee. My gg-grandfather was born 1814 in Giles Co Tennessee, and although I can't prove it 100%, it appears his father was Joseph, born in South Carolina. What part of Tennessee did your Rogers line move to? If the Giles, Lawerence Co. areas of Tenn, we may have a connection. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: knavik Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10032/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm looking for more information on the family of Robert Seaborn Rogers, born around 1815. He was living in District 3, Prentiss, Mississippi with his wife Mahala in 1880, according to the census. There was a young man, John Bozeman living with them whose grandmother, Dempsey Bozeman was supposedly a Rogers (but this is unconfirmed). I suspect that John was sent to work at the house of his grandmother's relatives when he was young. I also believe that the gentleman living next door to R.S. Rogers was his son in law, Obe Gardner, and his son, Benjimin (Benjamin) Franklin Rogers, lived next door to Obe. Can anyone help me find a connection to the Bozeman family? I believe that Dempsey (Rogers) Bozeman was either R.S. Rogers' sister or his aunt. Thank you, Kerstin Gunter Navik Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [ROGERS] Correction for Benjamin Rogers and South Carolina Land Petitions.
    2. I sent several postings yesterday about Rogers and South Carolina Land petitions. I realized when I read them this morning I made an error on Benjamin Rogers. I have located the following information from PETITIONS FOR LAND FROM THE SOUTH CAROLINA COUNCIL JOURNALS VOLUME 1:1734/5-1748 by Brent H. Holcomb. Meeting of Wednesday 12th of March 1745/6 Page 57: Read the Petition of Benjamin Rogers shewing That the petit'r has been in this province 3 years & having seven persons in family besides himself, viz't a Wife & Six Children for whom as yet he hate not receiv'd any land on acc't of family right, but being desirous to settle and cultivate some of his Majesty's vacant lands humbly prays his Excell'cy & Honours would be pleased to give a Warr't for laying out to him 400 acres of vacant land, being in proportion to his said family right, in one or two tracts in the Welch Tract on Pedee River, near to the lands of John Lake, & C. March 11, 1745/6. The prayer of the petition was granted. I also found in the 1800 Census of South Carolina there are two Benjamin Rogers listed in Marlboro County. Can anyone provide any information of any of the above Benjamin's? I am wondering if these Benjamin's could be related??? My cousins and myself are also interested in Benjamin Rogers of Roanoke River in Bertie Co. North Carolina. This Benjamin was born between 1735 and 1740. he came from England with two brothers-Tracy and William. Near the present town of Roxobel are the ruins of an old town which was known as Rogersville. This information was taken from a note card from the Screven County Genealogy website page 62 Aldermans of America. Any help or additional information would be very much appreciated and I will be very happy to share the information I have. I am attempting to sort(if possible) some of these Rogers in and around this area to help further search for our Rogers. Thank you very much for reading this. 1. [ROGERS] John Rogers SC Land Grant of 1745
    2. I have located the following information from PETITIONS FOR LAND FROM THE SOUTH CAROLINA COUNCIL JOURNALS VOLUME 1:1734/5-1748 by Brent H. Holcomb. Page 222 Meeting of 8th May 1745 Read the Petition of JOHN ROGERS, Planter, humbly shewing, That the Petit'r has eight persons in Family for whom no land has been assigned him in this Province, and being willing to cultivate & improve to the Extent of his said family Right, He humble prays His Excel'cy & their honours that 400 acres of land be laid out to him by two different warrants betwixt Santee River & Wateree River & c...the prayer of his S'd Petit'n was granted... I am searching for information about JOHN ROGERS b abt 1725 d 09 Aug 1790 in Fairfield, SC. I have eight known children listed for him-Henry, James, Mary Jane, Richard, Thomas, William, Joseph and Frances(Fannie). I am also looking for any information about John Rogers who served as a horseman in the militia during 1781 under Captain Kilgore. I think it possible that John had a son named John but he would have had to have died before 1790 when John made his will (or have been disinherited--which I doubt). Perhaps if this is true, John Jr. could be the one who served as a horseman in the militia. I am not sure if this is the same John Rogers that is mentioned in the SC archives as follows: 02/18/1771 Rogers, John, Plat for 200 acres in Craven County. Mentioned with John Phillips, George Lott, Robert been searching for years for this John and any bit of information about any of these names might provide some clues to us. Thank you very much. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated and I would be very happy to share information. Thank you in advance for your help Joyce Phillips ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
