I research the Glenn Family of which a Frances Glenn married a David Nix in 1843 in Marshall County, Tenn. David was the son of Robin and Fannie Nix and was one of 14 children. Robin was born in Georgia and was married to Miss Arnold in Marshall County, Tenn. Robin Nix died in 1880, lacking 16 days of being 100 years old. It also states that David was born in what is now Marshall County on April 20, 1818. I do not know if this family ties in with your Nix Family but it might be worth the effort to investigate Marshall County, Tenn and the area that Marshall County was formed from. Carol Andrews
I am not researching the exact same people, but the ones I am hunting are no doubt related. My James C. McCoy and wife Sarah Ann Rogers McCoy went into Satolah, Rabun Co, GA, sometime in the late 1880's. They were my 3rd great grandparents. Wish I knew exactly when they went there, but,I feel very certain that the main reason they went was because one of their daughters, or maybe even two, but one daughter, for sure married John Nix. When Sarah Ann Rogers died, in 1930, her daughter, Caroline Nix signed the death certificate or someone put her name there anyway, as the family informant. Have tried and tried to find out more about my Nix people without any success. Obviously they lived, among other places, in Rabun County, GA. I belong to several myfamily.com websites and really do like them. I am an admin on 2 of them and a treasurer of one that is supported by contributions from all the members. At ~$30 a year it has plenty of storage for pictures and gedcoms and files. Try it out. I think yours must be a different Thomas Rogers as the one I have was aged 18 in 1817. :-( If you find your Thomas went whaling though, let me know and I will keep an eye out for him. I'm looking for the parents of Abel Rogers, born in New London CT on 9 Sep 1759, died in Lyme CT on 3 Jun 1845, married Hannah Rogers on 19 Feb 1784. Abel was a Revolutionary War Veteran who was allocated a pension just prior to his death. I have been looking for his parents for years and have had no luck. Hi, I am hoping to get some opinions from you guys...? I want to put up a family site - replete with GEDCOM and photographs and there seem to be several choices.? I signed up for a free page on tribalpages.com and started playing with it.? I imported my GEDCOM ... and I like the names index and the way you navigate through the trees and the fact that photos can be organized into albums and tagged to the individual in the tree. But, what about other sites?? I have an ancestry.com membership and I use FamilyTreeMaker.? What have others of you done to publish your family information online?? I also want it to be somewhat restricted by logon; ie., I don't want to publish to the world, only my family. My grandmother, Marie Elsie Rogers, b. May 12, 1902 in Liberty Indiana, was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Rogers and Susan (Susie) Noe Rogers. Elsie married Omer Maurice Bruce, from Union County Indiana. Their children were George (b 1889); Bettie (b. 1890); Bertha (b. 1891); Rose (b. 1893); Ruth (b. 1995); Ross (b. 1899) and Marie Elsie Rogers (b. 12 May 1902). I would love to know more about the Rogers/Noe family. Where were Andrew and Susan born? Were they married in Indiana? And did they die in Indiana, if so, where are they buried? What was their ancestry? Do any of their children still live in the Liberty Indiana/Hamilton Ohio area? Many Thanks.
