She was my g-g-grandmother, married (I believe) 3 times to: -UNK Ewing b.1865(?) & had Willie Ewing b.1888; -UNK Rogers/Rodgers & had Jessie (female) b.1894; Ethel b.1898; -Elias Byrd Lawrence(1872 - 1944) & had Pearl, Riley, Edgar & Mertle. I am related to her through Edgar Lawrence. I have no idea what her maiden name was. She is listed as Eula Rogers on the marriage license to EB Lawrence. They were married in Tipton County, TN in 1898. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Author: AnneHalford Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10892.5/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Mr Judd, You need to furnish more details if you want us to help you. Looking for a "John Rogers" is like looking for a John Smith. About 110 heads of households with a variation of that name were listed in the remaining 1790 census records from 9 of the states. If a son, employee, father or brother named John Rodgers lived with the head-of-household, he was not listed. Previous writers have asked you if there were other names. Equally helpful to know: What is the content of the ledger book, and the context of the name inclusion? ... Store accts., payroll, farm records, quartermaster war records, inventory of an estate, tax assessments? Did the book belong to John Rogers, or is he one of many payees. Does the ledger have a printing date or publisher? Where (at least a state) did you find the book? Was it passed down in your family, or at a garage sale, antique store, or historical society? If it belonged to your family, where did they come from? Thanks, Anne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have a John Rogers born 1800 in South Carolina. I do not know who his father is but I do know the name John shows up at the least 8 times in my Rogers line. If your Ledger book is from South Carolina there might be a clue that we both could use. As was suggested in the other reply you might also give some of the other names from the Ledger. Sometimes this is a good way for other to help you out with a mystery. Possibly there is a unique name in your ledger that will catch someones eye and they came give you further information.
