    1. [ROGERS] Looking for parents of Jemima (Rogers) Kellogg
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: fatdukefan Surnames: Rogers, Kellogg, Platt, Fox Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10916/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am the 7x great granddaughter of Jemima (Rogers) Kellogg who was born in 1718 and died in Norwalk, Conn. in 1789. She was married to Epenetus Kellogg (1719-1774) who was the son of Samuel Kellogg and Sarah Platt. I have been searching for Jemima's parents and some people have them as being Adam and Katherine Rogers. However, it has come to my attention that the connection is erronious and is a result of mixing Jemima (Rogers) Kellogg with a Jemima Rogers who married John Fox in 1742. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can verify this one way or another and if Adam and Katherine are not Jemima Kellog's parents if anyone has any knowledge of who they in fact are, again I would be most appreciative. Thank you! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [ROGERS] Rogers in Lowndes and Wilcox Co. Alabama 1830=1840
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: jodystree Surnames: Rogers, Andrews Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10915/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have an Ann E. Rogers who married George R. Andrews in Lowndes Co. in the early 1830s. She had died by the early 1840s but in 1840 her husband and his family and evidently her brother, John Rogers moved to Wilcox Co. The 1840 Census shows him being between 30-39, his wife 20-29, and a daughter under 5. My question is, to which of the Rogers in the area at that time period did these two siblings belong? There was a John Rogers there shown in 1830 with 8 kids, two of whom could be Ann and John Jr. Does anyone know for sure? 1. [ROGERS] "copying" the 1700's Ledger book
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: AnneHalford Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10892.5.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The biggest advantage to having the digital images, is to reduce wear on the ledger, because you can study the pages without handling the book itself. If opening the book flat to scan it might damage it's fragile condition or spine, I recommend high resolution photographs. (Also great for large books that would require more than one scan to copy a page.) Lay book on a low surface, or floor, where you can get the camera directly perpendicular to the page. Brace the camera against a solid object to prevent blurry images (lots of indirect lighting helps if you can't use a flash. I don't have a tripod). If pages are thin, put a sheet of white paper behind the page to increase contrast and block out faint images of following page. Getting too close may result in "fisheye" distortion, so back off and crop the excess later. If the scans of the old pages are too dark, or the writing is faint, make a copy of the page to experiment on. Use your computer's image editing program to increase contrast and/or brightness, or reduce midrange values or color saturation. If you post the images HERE more people will see them. You may have to reduce the jpeg file to document size to speed up loading time, but attaching an image to your posts is simple. She would be an aunt to me, and we are trying to find out what became of her, possibly contact her, whether she is still alive, etc. Last we heard she married a doctor from Long Island, NY, but that is unconfirmed. Some of her TV and movie credits include: Starred in the movie Violent Midnight (1963), which is still shown occasionally on TCM. Announcer on CBS TV's Jackie Gleason Show, Timekeeper on ABC's Masquerade Party, Hostess on NBC's The Big Surprise (1955/1956). Had a part in at least one episode of the TV Series "Naked City" (1962). Appeared on at least one episode of Route 66, (1961, episode 70, season 3, Welcome to the Wedding). I have also created a facebook group page for her in which I am attempting to put together all information available on her, and hope that someday she or her family members may see it. It is open for all to view and join. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=183462341426&ref=ts Or, run a facebook search for What Ever Happened to Lorraine Rogers Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If he changed his last name it would be difficult indeed to find him. A suggestion - look at later English census records to see if you can find his brothers or sisters, and then their children. Maybe you could come up with a living relative who may have heard what happened to Thomas. I'll keep looking and be in touch if I find anything. Author: AnneHalford Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10892.5.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks. Newbury, or Newburyport, MA matches the cemetery record I had found for Deacon Edmund Bayley. Did any of your ancestors live in that area? I had family who lived there during that time but none match your list. Local historians might be able to match dates with local events. Did the men have a house or ship constructed? Did they preach at a certain church, teach at a school, invest in property? "Given to" a family member indicates it had been passed down for many generations by descendents of the ledger's owner. To bad the ledger didn't include documentation to identify it's history. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: SandraStephens50 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10912.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: OK, I see now! We ought to be able to find Thomas Rogers in the 1910 census - I take it he was born in England? What was his occupation, do you know? Any clue as to where he might have settled in the U.S.? What English port would he have sailed from - London, Liverpool, etc.? Also, do you have a middle name or initial for him? Anything else will be of help - names of his parents, siblings, uncles, aunts, etc. You never know when some little, tiny clue will solve the mystery! You said something about T. Rogers providing money for his son until age 14 - was it mailed to him, and if so, where did it come from? I know these are a lot of questions, but please answer as many as you can, so I can try to help you. Sandra Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Fddjeh_1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.rogers/10892.5.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Dear Anne: You are exactly right, it would have been better if I would have provided more information. However, there is not much more to say about this old ledger. It was given to the family of one of my cousins (a generation or two ago) and now none of us can remember where it came from, or who gave it to us, or why we have it. The ledger is in frail condition, it has no title or location we can pin it to. It has names dates and money ammounts, but no reference to places. The names in the ledger include Joseph Rawlings, Cap't Joseph Brown, Deac. James Brown, James Hazzard, Lieut. Nath'l Ordway, John Rogers, Deac Edmond Bayley and Liet Moses Emery. The dates for these names range from 1759 to 1778. I did find a book, during a Google Book search, about the history of Newbury, Mass, which had reference to most of the names listed. So, possibly that is where the ledger is from. Frank F. Judd Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
