    3. Hello, I too have wondered if my Rodgers had some sort of Native American or even African-American blood or ancestor way back somewhere. My mom, uncle, and my uncle's sons all had sort of slightly olive complexions, with very dark brown to black hair. My mom and uncle both had very dark, almost black eyes. When we were all teenagers my two cousins had very thick, sort of stiff and wiry almost unmanagable hair. I used to wonder even back then. But I know nothing of my Rodgers other than the fact that my grandfather's family was from Kentucky, he coming to Alabama back in the '20s. But I only go back to his father, my great grandfather, Dr. John Fleming Rodgers, who is buried in Versailles Cem, Versailles, Ky.. I have seen a pic of Dr. Rodgers, a evidently dark headed man with black eyes like my brother, and from what I remember the same thick hair. According to his obit Dr. Rodgers was born in Bourbon Co. in like 1827 or so and lived in various counties and towns, but spent the last 28 yrs of his life in Clifton, Woodford Co., Ky.. I have seen some old post cards from back in the early 1900s from my grandfather to some cousins in Midway, Woodford Co., Ky.. I wish I could find out the history, parents and line of my great grandfather Dr. John Fleming Rodgers. Take care, David Middleton Edelen II Millbrook, Alabama Dr. Rodgers first married a Margaret E. Pattie and had some kids who wound up in Texas. His 2nd wife, my great grandmother, was Sarah Isabel "Belle" Williams, who gave him three kids, Lee, married a Mr. Oscar Hawkins and remained in Ky somewhere, Emma, who married a Mr. Thomas Blackerby, and wound up in Montgomery, Al., and Lester Samuel Rodgers, who married a Miss Maude Janet White and wound up in Prattville, Al.. The latter were my mom's parents. ----- Original Message ----- From: <johnniemcgee464@hotmail.com> To: <RODGERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 11, 2004 12:14 AM Subject: [RODGERS] Re: Native American Rodgers?
