Is this Seth Rodgers related to the family of George Rodgers (with sons Seth and Robert) who lived in the Beverly Manor, Augusta County, Virginia and died in 1768? In 1805, Robert Rogers of Tennessee State, Blount County, being heir at law to George Rodgers, deceased, gave Power of Attorney to James Rutledge to act for him regarding the 540 acre Beverley Manor grant from Robert Beverley (I think this should be William Beverley). I have not be able to connect this Robert Rogers (Rodgers) in Blount County, TN, with the Robert Rodgers who is in Madison County, Alabama, in the Mississippi Territory Census of 1810. Does anyone have the ancestors of this family or the descendents after 1850? I am researching the parents of Seth W. Rodgers and Susannah Stockton Rodgers, who lived in New Market, Alabama between 1812 and 1835-37, and who were indicated to be born in Tennessee in their oldest daughter’s 1880 Federal Census record (Elizabeth Rodgers Scruggs, in Lawrence County, Alabama (Source: Alabama, Township 7, Franklin, Alabama). One of the hypotheses that I am testing is whether the Robert Rogers (Rodgers) from Augusta County, Virginia is the father of the Seth Rodgers in New Market, Alabama (who died around 1846 in Lawrence, County, Alabama). The Seth Rodgers of Jefferson County, TN, could also have been the son of Robert Rodgers, or related to other Rodgers in Augusta County. It is interesting that both first sons were named Robert W. Rodgers, a common Scotch-Irish tradition at that time. Any information regarding this matter would be deeply appreciated. I would be glad to share my research to date, and the other hypotheses that I am tested, based on the evidence that I have been able to gain to date. Cordially, Ken Kenneth W.
