I have a John Rogers, died in Copiah Co. Ms. 1834, in his will he left property to his daughter, Mary Ann and her husband Alva Prescott. In settleing the estate they paid Alva 100.00 to go to Ala. to testify in a dower suit against the "pretended" widow, they also paid a law firm $500.00 on this case. Mary Ann later married Charles W. Lewin. and moved to Ala then Texas. Is anyone searching this line? Can anyone tell me about this dower suit?
