    3. Hello, I saw your post and was interested in your Rodgers line in Indiana. One of my "terrible brick walls" is a Sarah (Rodgers) Anderson who was in the Vincennes area in Indiana when her daughter Rachel was born in 1830. Her husband was Peter Anderson, born in VA in 1804. She was born in VA in c1809. Sarah died in Indiana sometime after her last son was born in 1833 and before 1843. After her death, her husband, Peter Anderson, son William Anderson, b. 1827, Rachel, b. 1830 and Alexander, b. 1833 traveled on west and down to KS and AR. Peter Anderson became ill and died in the home of a minister in Winslow, Washington County, AR. The children were taken in by nearby Bloyd and Caughman families (which were both my ancestors). Rachel Anderson and William both married Caughman children. Rachel was my third great grandmother. I know from personal correspondence with Rachel's granddaughter that Rachel appeared to be Native American with long black hair that she could stand on. Her granddaughter thought she was Choctaw and others think Cherokee. Supposedly the Indian blood is through her mother Sarah Rodgers. The Indiana location certainly would be more likely to indicate Delaware and the Delaware were adopted into the Cherokee tribe later. I know there are many Anderson surnames in the Delaware tribe and even a Chief William Anderson but we are not part of his family. Have worked long and hard on this one without much success. My questions to you are: Were any of your Rodgers from VA? and if so where in VA? Do you have a Sarah Rodgers in your information? Do you have any knowledge of Native Americans in your Rodgers line? Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I don't have a birthdate or any other info for Alice, however her parents were born in 1825 and 1833) As far as I know, all of my traceable Rodgers/Rogers ancestors were from Indiana, primarily Pike and Daviess Counties. I still have family there; also in Vincennes. > > > ==== RODGERS Mailing List ==== > Use the web site for directions how to unsub or change modes > rootsweb http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/r/o/RODGERS/ > Do not post List Problems to the list send them to > RODGERS-admin@rootsweb.com List Manager > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
