You will notice that Hurd Rogers never mentions old Doswell as having a son named Doswell. There is only one reference to a possible son. There is the deed where Doswell SR sells to Doswell JR. The Doswell/Dauswell situation in Lee and Scott Cos. is a hard one to figure out. It may never be solved. Does old Doswell really have a son named Doswell, JR? Another problem is the son of Thomas named Dauswell who lived in Hawkins Co. Just from talking to present day descendants I often had the feeling that when I said old Doswell they were really talking about Thomas' son and not our oldest Doswell.
