Sorry about that mistake I just made. Old age. I looked at the wrong William Hurd. The Hurd we are referring to was born in 1813. I still contend that he most likely never saw his great-grandfather, etc. One of the other big problems that had to be straightened out in the 1970's was the two Elisha's. All of the descendants I ran across didn't realize that there were two Elisha Rogers. One was the ancestor of Mae Morgan with whom I spent many hours. He is the one whom we believe to be the son of Old Doswell. This Elisha had a son Dauswell who was the grandfather of Mae. In fact, the small town of Daus, Tn was named for him. The thing that grabbed my interest was the deed in Hamilton Co., TN referring to land that had been owned by Thomas Rogers of Scott who was the son of old Doswell. The land had been old Doswell's at one time. This really makes one believe that Elisha was his son to be involved with Doswell's land. The other Elisha who also ended up in this area was the son of William Rogers of White who was the son of Old Doswell. This Elisha was from the second family and that confused people with all of the renaming. They never would believe me that there were two separate Elishas.
