Nancy, I saved your post and am just now getting a chance to check my information. Here is something that might help. I can't be sure its the same Reuben, ( I capitalized his name below to make him easier to spot) but the timing is about right and he was born in NY. I gave you the whole family so if it is the right Reuben you have more information to research from. There is no William, but since you were running into dead ends, for what it's worth here it is. In the James Swift Rogers book publ 1902 "James Rogers of New London CT & His Descendants", on pages 170 - 171, it states: (183)Eld. Cary(5) Rogers (Nathan(4), Jonathan(3), Jonathan(2), James(1), born May 22, 1745 in Waterford, CT; died Oct. 26, 1822, in Grafton, NY; married Dec 10, 1767, in Westerly, RI, Martha (Patty) Rathbone of Exeter, RI, born July 29, 1749; died Feb 22, 1826. He was a minister of the Seventh Day Baptist church, and was located at Grafton, NY. He lived in New London during the Revolutionary War, and his father's house was used as a guard-house by the British, when they burned the city. He went from New London to Hopkinton, RI, working with his uncle, Eld Joseph Davis, to learn the cabinet-making trade. He had been educated in strict observance of the seventh day Sabbath, but while in Hopkinton united with the New Light Baptist church, as was ordained a deacon. After his marriage he removed to Hoosick, NY and thence in 1797 to Grafton NY, where he was ordained a minister of the gospel, and labored faithfully in the service for many years. Children: Martha, (6) b Sept 16, 1768, in Hopkinton; d. April 20 1824; m. Samuel Griffith of Stephentown, NY. They had nine children. Clark, b. May 26 1771 in Hopkinton; m. Rebecca Turner; res. Fabius, Onondaga Co., NY Children: Jacob I.(7) b. ____, in Rensselaer Co., NY; m. and had Nathan(6), Ira; REUBEN, Susan; of these the elder two are dead, and the living have failed to respond to inquiries. Ira. b____ Sarah, b___; m. ___ Reed, and had children Benjamin b. Jun 6, 1773; m. Sally Stone Cary, b. April 29, 1776; m. Elizabeth Pierce Nathan, b. Sept 20, 1784; m. Sarah Steward Joseph Davis, b.
