I've been looking for my ROGERS & DARNELLs for over 40 years and I'm not any closer now than I was 40 years ago. I'm so frustrated. I haven't even been able to locate anything on them in the FHC in Salt Lake. I try to go to the FHC in Salt Lake every year or two, but they don't seem to have any more info than I do on these families. I wish better luck to you than I've had! Carolyn

The name Jesse came from a relative of daughter Minnie June. But they haven't answered where they came up with this name. I think probaly since Alice's husband #2, William Webb was born about Oct. 1847, that Jesse's birthdate would have been somewhere in that neighborhood. I estimate Ida Alice to have been born about 1860. Any information would be appreciated. You can e-mail me at kathiwebb54@hotmail.com

My William "Will" RODGERS/ROGERS married Martha Patsy "Patty" CROSS in 1805 in Grainger Co,TN. So far I cannot find anyone who has him, it's like he feel off the tree or something. :( I do know that Martha's parents were in Hawkins Co,TN. and her father Edward CROSS's Will was made 1794 in Hawkins Co,TN. Martha's mother them married a William NALL and heard he died in Grainger Co,TN. William and Martha had moved to Claiborne Co,TN. and in 1820 Martha left Wm. RODGERS/ROGERS in Claiborne Co,TN. and she moved to Cumberland Co,KY. to live with her mother Rebecca NALL after the death of Wm. NALL. I've been looking so long for my RODGERS/ROGERS line. :( Thanks again and if you ever find more out about about your Nancy/Mary ROGERS please think of me. But she did marry John Nelson DARNELL in Grainger right? I think I read some where that Grainger was formed out out parts of Hawkins and Knox Counties, TN. This is so hard. hehe Thanks Again, Theresa

Do you know the ancestors of your Robert Rodgers? I am a descendent of Seth Rodgers who moved to New Market, Alabama around 1812 from Tennessee, who named his oldest son, Robert. I have a copy of his will, that was registered in Jefferson County, TN, in 1850. I will be glad to send you a pdf file of the will. Below is a copy of the message that I recently posted on this message board about Seth and Lucinda Rodgers. I am researching their ancestors, to see how we might be related. Do you have any information about Lucinda's ancestors? I look forward to sharing information with you. Cordially, Ken Kenneth W. Rodgers **************************************************************** Does anyone know the ancestors and descendents of the family of Seth and Lucinda Rodgers, who were living in Jefferson County, Tennessee in 1850, the time that this will was registered? Is this Seth Rodgers related to the family of George Rodgers (with sons Seth and Robert) who lived in the Beverly Manor, Augusta County, Virginia and died in 1768? In 1805, Robert Rogers of Tennessee State, Blount County, being heir at law to George Rodgers, deceased, gave Power of Attorney to James Rutledge to act for him regarding the 540 acre Beverley Manor grant from Robert Beverley (I think this should be William Beverley). I have not be able to connect this Robert Rogers (Rodgers) in Blount County, TN, with the Robert Rodgers who is in Madison County, Alabama, in the Mississippi Territory Census of 1810. Does anyone have the ancestors of this family or the descendents after 1850? I am researching the parents of Seth W. Rodgers and Susannah Stockton Rodgers, who lived in New Market, Alabama between 1812 and 1835-37, and who were indicated to be born in Tennessee in their oldest daughter’s 1880 Federal Census record (Elizabeth Rodgers Scruggs, in Lawrence County, Alabama (Source: Alabama, Township 7, Franklin, Alabama). One of the hypotheses that I am testing is whether the Robert Rogers (Rodgers) from Augusta County, Virginia is the father of the Seth Rodgers in New Market, Alabama (who died around 1846 in Lawrence, County, Alabama). The Seth Rodgers of Jefferson County, TN, could also have been the son of Robert Rodgers, or related to other Rodgers in Augusta County. It is interesting that both first sons were named Robert W. Rodgers, a common Scotch-Irish tradition at that time. The middle initial that I have for Rodgers is "W" not M. Do you have the source for your undersanding that his middle initial was M? Any information regarding this matter would be deeply appreciated. I would be glad to share my research to date, and the other hypotheses that I am tested, based on the evidence that I have been able to gain to date. Cordially, Ken Kenneth W. Rodgers Seth Rodgers, of Jefferson County, Tennessee, recorded his will May 22, 1850. Wife: Lucinda Rodgers Children: Robert W. Rodgers (oldest son) Jesse M. Rodgers Mark L. Rodgers Mary J.
