Many of them settled in Coaldale, Schuylkill Co. PA. I can trace back to Manus Rodgers b. 1874 who had a son Thomas L. b.1895, Edward V. b. 1888, and many other sons and daughters. The family worked the coal mines in PA after coming from Glenties, Co. Donegal, Ireland. The PA census records show alot of Melly and Rodgers families arriving in PA from county Donegal. Get in touch if you think there might be a connection.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Rodgers, West Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hgDBAIB/1735 Message Board Post: My great-grandfather Preston Walker (P.W.) Rodgers was born in Tennessee in 1852, but an 1860 census has him living in Tunica County, Mississippi, with his family. His siblings in that family are as follows: P.P. (male), born 1853 in Mississippi; L.B.(female), born 1856 in Mississippi; A.L. (female), born 1857 in Mississippi. (All the birth years are census estimated birth years.) This all the information that I have on this family, except that P.W. Rodgers married Ada Lois West in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, in 1883. In 1910 they lived in Grenada County and their only child, a daughter -- Janie Laura Rodgers -- married Thomas Pearson Peacock. I would like to know about P.W.'s life, about any of his brothers and sisters and their families. Who was P.W.'s mother? Where is she buried? Where is his father buried? What was P.W.'s occupation? What about the children and descendants of his siblings? I would just like to know more about this side of my family. Thanks! for any feedback.

Surnames: Rodgers/Rogers; Sutton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hgDBAIB/1654.2 Message Board Post: I am interested in the fact that you list Abner as a family name for your Rodgers line. My great-great grandfather was Abner Rodgers. He might have been born in S.C. 1830, maybe in Laurens Co. He did marry Anna L. Sutton in 1851, possibly in Lauderdale, Co., TN. The only child I know he had was Preston Walker Rodgers. They lived in Mississippi, in what was either DeSoto or Marshall county but is now Tate County. Do any of these names, dates or places mesh with anything you have? The above is absolutely all I know of this A.L. Rodgers. His son Preston left home as a very young man and Preston's only child, my grandmother, never knew anything of that grandfather. Thanks for you help.
